Perhaps there are enough people that can turn a blind eye, in regards to Hoffman, where this could still be successful. I personally don’t think he’s appealing as an actor anymore.

Sadly, I think it's likely that the passage of time means the sexual harassment/assault allegations against Dustin Hoffman have faded from memory. Even with Hoffman's status as one of #MeToo's most high-profile falls from grace, five years is a long enough time for a lot of casual audiences to treat his misconduct as something "from the past" not worthy of further punishment (Plus Broadway has ploughed on through various scandals involving producers and jukebox musical subject matter, so...). However, I also agree that he's a spent force as an actor - I can't think of the last time he was in a film that people really paid attention to (maybe Kung Fu Panda 3, and as an animated sequel, that's an anomaly) and he pretty much vanished from Hollywood after the allegations went public. Our Town will certainly be framed as a comeback for Hoffman, but I'm not sure casual audiences will come back for him.
