Can’t wait to read your review
Saw the show tonight and am so happy to report that this is wonderful. Sanaz Toossi’s play is very well-crafted and the way she has the characters distinguish between sparking English & Farsi is so clever & simple - it works perfectly. Direction & acting were also top notch. I’d highly recommend this to anyone interested in new work, new voices, or just a moving (and funny) night at the theatre.

How was Tala ashe’s performance?
She was excellent! Everyone was great, but her arc was particularly strong. Just beautiful.

I'm so happy I saw this without knowing anything about it. Smart and funny and moving and thought provoking. Everything good theater should be.

Peter Marks has a rave review for English: https://www.washingtonpost.com/theater-dance/2022/03/01/english-iran-atlantic-theater-review/.
I agree with it completely. Probably the best play (and maybe even show) I've seen this season. I'd subjectively rank it ahead of the Lehman Trilogy, although Lehman was much more of an acting/performance tour-de-force. But I felt like English was a much better overall package -- a quietly beautiful story.

Code ENG25 works for all remaining performances for $25 tickets.
Thank you kurtal! Just picked up tickets using the code you shared. Appreciate it!
I enjoyed this play. But about halfway through I found myself wondering what the stakes were. Eventually it settled into some Chekovian tropes.
Once I accepted that little would be explained or resolved I was able to let go and appreciate the character work and social commentary.
