What a wonderful send off for Harmony!   Wow Chicago!

"Noel [Coward] and I were in Paris once. Adjoining rooms, of course. One night, I felt mischievous, so I knocked on Noel's door, and he asked, 'Who is it?' I lowered my voice and said 'Hotel detective. Have you got a gentleman in your room?' He answered, 'Just a minute, I'll ask him.'" (Beatrice Lillie)

A fair amount of principal casting updates and closings to keep track of these next couple of weeks.

Harmony and Purlie both with strong final weeks, and Ohio likely to follow suit.

Decent start for Doubt, but it’s only two previews so far (and no Daly).

Nice to see Joe Locke and Ariana Madix move the needle at their respective musicals.

I’d hate to think so, but this is probably the peak for Wine and Roses, just after opening.

Back to the Future actually lost money last week.

Average ticket prices will def shoot back up next week as the 2-for-1 deal just ended on Sunday.

What happened at Chicago?  I assume stunt casting of someone I have never heard of?????

I am thrilled that stunt casting is allowing Chicago to run as long as it has, because it is one of my favorite shows ever.

I wonder if Days of Wine and Roses will make it to its scheduled close date.  I imagine that the number of new arrivals will not be a boon to a show that is already struggling, despite some great reviews.  Should this have stayed off-Broadway??

As it month, I am wondering if any Sondheim show has ever sold out every performance in its first 22 weeks.  A lot have started strong, but they could not sustain the initial momentum beyond a certain point.

I'm not surprised about Locke. My friend and I don't have the luxury of seeing many shows twice, but we bought a ticket to see Sweeney Todd again when he was announced. I'm fascinated by the casting of Foster and, especially, Tveit, but it was indeed Locke who moved the needle for us.

Does anyone know what the running cost of wine and roses is?

I didn't know either, but as the poster above noted, it was Ariana Madix (who I'd never heard of). She is "a cast member on the Bravo reality television series Vanderpump Rules" and was on Dancing with the Stars last year. I feel ancient and completely out of touch...but I'm okay with that.

BWW now has a feature article with photos: https://www.broadwayworld.com/article/Photos-First-Look-at-Ariana-Madix-as-Roxie-Hart-in-CHICAGO-20240207

If so, I find it astounding g that someone with those credentials can not only land a lead role on Broadway, but cause the box-office to explode.  Maybe reality TV is where they should go to when Sutton and Aaron are ready to leave!
