DeGarmo as Elphaba

I was reading somewhere (recently and I can't remember where) that Diana DeGarmo (American Idol) was really interested in playing Elphaba in the Wicked tour. I don't know if this has changed but she said she wasn't doing it so much for publicity of the show or herself but she really loves the music and really wants to act. I don't know. I've heard her sing, she's kinda young (although she looks pretty grown up in my opinion) but she has a great voice and is a great belter. I've never seen her act though. Dont get mad at me lol, Im only the messenger lol but what do you think about it?

I've never seen American Idol and I don't know what Diana DeGarmo is like, but boy I can understand how she would love the music and want to play Elphaba. It's a wonderful role.

Hey Derek2, have you read the book? I bet you would really enjoy it.

Actually no I haven't. I really wanted to but I never got around to it. I wanted to have finished it by next friday (seeing the show again) but yeah...once again never got around to it. Im interested though, what are some big changes and differences between the book and the show? I'll probably never get to read it so I don't mind if u tell me lol

I wanted her to win American Idol, but I don't think her voice suits the role. If you heard her sing, you might understand.

Crap! Yeah! Lucky you! Is she as funny offstage as she is on?

Yeah Millie, maybe her voice isn't right for the part. I know I wanted her to win also ::snaps fingers in dissapointment::

I know people want Stephanie Block to be Elphaba after Idina leaves. What about Stephanie D'Abruzzo sometime in the future?

Kristin Chenoweth was very nice. She gave my hand a squeeze and I melted. She apologized for not having very good penmanship and said her brothers name is Mark with a k like mine. :)

I loved Diana on American Idol. I really hated Fantasia. She made me cringe.

Yeah she was more of a screamer than a singer. Don't get me wrong, in some songs its really cool to be a screamer lol, but Diana can do both

The arrangement she sang of "All My Life" was awful. LaToya was supposedly the favorite, but she got voted off the week she sang "Don't Rain On My Parade." The show is rigged.

i don't think she has a remote chance at this part, i highly doubt that the defying gravity lift will hold her

DeGarmo is 16 years old, probably going onto 17 (or already there, don't know her birthday). Remember the website posted...two girls sang "Defying Gravity"? Some of you said that their vocal chords shouldn't be straining on those types of songs. And DeGarmo isn't far off from their age!

AUGH! I am the only on ewho thought DiGarmo couldn't sing?!? That was NOT belting - it was screaming. I give the girl 2-3 years before she has totally shot out her voice. She seriously just screams when its a high note - its painful to listen to and requires no actual talent or technique. If she becomes Elphaba I will seriously die. I mean close down the show.

i second that motion- i just thought adding that she can't sing to the fat joke would be too much

I don't want to see DeGarmo in any musical ever. Her personality annoys me so much. I didn't really like Fantasia either. LaToya was the most talented person to grace that stage. She should have one.

I wouldn't mind hearing Kelly Clarkson try some of Elphaba's songs.
