Laura Benanti seems to have been making very notable appearances, especially after doing a rocking performance at Joe's Pub. But will she be coming back to Broadway soon???
I am not myself, but i become a character in itself, to only hope that my transformation is not of me, but of whom i characterize myself to be..
wasn't trying for original... just being honest... whenever I have seen that woman on stage in a musical, she comes off as cold, distant, and detached.
I thought her voice was beautiful and she was absolutely in the moment in the Into the Woods revival. And yes, I saw the original cast on Broadway too.
I just looked at the website and it appears that she has done a boatload of work for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, she performed at the concert for the Matthew Shepard Foundation and recorded with the Seattle Gay Men's Chorus. One would think that would push a few of your buttons, BG2. All that good work does seem to indicate that she is an ice woman, cold and unfeeling, in real life too.
I always love her, she is true to her own voice, always honest in her acting and makes her choices bold and interesting, not to mention she is smokin' hot, can there please be a Roger Rabbit musical?
She is Jessica Rabbit come to life, and she is anything but cold off-stage, I think she has some exciting stuff coming up....

I LOVE Laura Benanti. Her evening of original music was great. Granted, her banter, at times, was a little forced, but the music itself was wonderful. I personally, think at her very best on stage, she has a classic musical theatre sensibility. I would LOVE to see her do BRIGADOON (maybe with Emily Skinner as Meg).
