Alright so, it doesn't look like I'll be able to see James Romick even if tickets are still available. It's year end at work and it looks like I'll be working past show time at least until February. Yes, I have thought about quitting but that probably wouldn't be a good idea. lol Does anyone know if Romick has a CD out there?
I've seen POTO several times with different Phantoms each time. None of them ever touched my heart like Mark Jacoby. There was something electrifying in his performance that none of the others ever matched. His will always be my favorite.
I personally never have seen the role played with more depth and emotion than by Ted Keegan. The man is amazing. He has he tortured nature of the phantom down pat and uses his amazing voice to communicate it to the audience. Best Phantom in my opinion.
I also saw Jeff Keller and he is also excellent. The cast gave him the nickname The Monster because of his growling in the angrier sections of the piece.
I got rid of my teeth at a young age because... I'm straight. Teeth are for gay people. That's why fairies come and get them
I've seen POTO a number of times over the years since it opened on Broadway and, hands down, my vote goes to Michael Crawford. During "Music of the Night", the theater was silent and you could hear a pin drop. Mesmerizing. He didn't play the phantom. He was the phantom.
I've heard good things about Howard McGillan, but unfortunately have never seen him in the role.
