Isn't the answer B, Sarafino? The Phantom wants her recast as the role that Christine ends up playing, at least for the first few minutes, until the Phantom gets his revenge since they don't adhere to that request?
No. Sarafino is from Don Juan Trimuphant, the opera the Phantom writes.

The character in Il Muto is the pageboy (disguised as a maid), named Serafimo, so I think B is the correct answer. There is no Sarafino in Don Juan Triumphant. Passarino is the only other character in that opera mentioned by name.
Oh yes, that's right nothatsmrt. It is Serafimo, I remember now. I was thinking of Passarino, Sarafino just wasn't ringing a bell for me.

Back, he spurred like a madman, shrieking a curse to the sky. With the white road smoking behind him and his rapier brandished high! Blood-red were the spurs i' the golden noon; wine-red was his velvet coat, when they shot him down on the highway, down like a dog on the highway, and he lay in his blood on the highway, with the bunch of lace at his throat...
