Just wait for the inevitable cast recording that will come out in July-ish.
just a guess, but, the second soloist at the beginning is Elle's mother and the first one is one of Elle's friends (my guess: Serena).
on the demo it starts with Donna Vivino singing "dear elle, he's a lucky guy, i'm like gonna cry...." etc. Though that is actually Leslie Kritzers track in the show, Donna sang it for the demo. Michelle Kitrell does the role of the saleswoman who tries to scam elle (again, on the demo only)
why would the mazel tov be elle's mother? that would make no sense. she is not jewish...i was thinking margo
I don't think Elle's mother is even a character in the show, let alone in a song sung by the sorority girls....

it is for sure not Margot singing the second part in the beginning because, well, here's this:
Dear Elle
Honey, mazel tov
Future's taking off
Bring that ring back & show it to me
4 carots (sp?), a princess cut!
Are you psyched or what!
I just wish I could be there to see, when he gets down on one knee!
Margot is Elle's best friend that is in the sorority with her and Serena and others. plus, Elle's mom would make sense because she says to bring the ring to her to see it and she's wishing she could be there.

Gaelen plays Courtney, the sales girl
hm...i really wanna know if the second soloist is her mother or just another sorority girl! because in the movie, Elle's mom is in it briefly, and it's not Margot because she's the one later on talking to Bruiser and they don't sound the same...
I went to the reading last December. It's all sorority girls, and Elle's mother is not in the song.

Why wouldn't one of the sorority girls singing that section make sense? They aren't going to be there when Elle gets proposed to because it's just her and Warner going out together without them.
point taken...
now, it makes sense that the soloists at the beginning are Serena and Margot.
thanks for pointing that out, something wicked!
It sounds like Kate Wetherhead for "Not once ever has he hit on me!"
TWSFan4Ever, I wouldn't think Elle's mom would say something like "ARE YOU PSYCHED OR WHAT?" In the movie, her character was very prim and proper.
now from what i remember, her mother was proper. well, that cancels the mother out from the show! so, the main singers for the song are most likely Serena & Margot.
Is it Farah Alvin as Margot?
BUMP
I'm telling you, I am beginning to miss the Bergmans' song lyrics...their lyrics sound like Sondheim compared to most of the musical theatre lyrics nowadays.

"Not once has he hit on me!" is Gaelen Gilliland. . .as is the manager of the dress shop "Elle Woods?! Sorry, our mistake. . ." She is playing Courtney once it's staged.
