No, this isn't a High Fidelity thread.

Is it too soon to start posting the top 10 of 2006 lists yet? I was thinking about mine earlier today....tough choices.

I posted my list today on All That Chat. I still have one more show to see this year (TWO TRAINS RUNNING), but I think my list is pretty much set. In alphabetical order, and counting both parts of THE COAST OF UTOPIA as one entity:

Awake and Sing
The Coast of Utopia: Voyage and Shipwreck
Faith Healer
Heartbreak House
Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris
Landscape of the Body
The Lieutenant of Inishmore
Mother Courage and Her Children
Of Thee I Sing!
Seven Guitars

"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe." -John Guare, Landscape of the Body

Of Thee I Sing? Really?

"It's a great feeling of power to be naked in front of people. We're happy to watch actual incredible graphic violence and gore, but as soon as somebody's naked it seems like the public goes a bit bananas about the whole thing."

Of Thee I Sing? Really?

Yes. It was a wonderful production, the kind that reminds you how wonderful musicals once were.

BWAYONDABRAIN-

Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and Sweeney Todd opened in 2005. How can they be used on a 2006 list?

Really? I have to ask what exactly you liked about it because to be honest the only things I liked about it were Jenny Powers and Victor Garber.

Incomplete list, but so far:

The Lieutenant of Inishmore
The History Boys
The Pajama Game
The Drowsy Chaperone
The Little Dog Laughed
Heartbreak House

I've yet to see Grey Gardens, Spring Awakening, Company or Coast of Utopia.

Cheyenne Jackson tickled me. AFTER ordering SoMMS a drink but NOT tickling him, and hanging out with Girly in his dressing room (where he DIDN'T tickle her) but BEFORE we got married. To others. And then he tweeted Boobs. He also tweeted he's good friends with some chick on "The Voice" who just happens to be good friends with Tink's ex. And I'm still married. Oh, and this just in: "Pettiness, spite, malice ....Such ugly emotions... So sad." - After Eight, talking about MEEEEEEEE!!! I'm so honored! :-)

SallyBrown-

It is my personal opinion that OF THEE I SING! has one of the best scores ever written, and being able to hear it live was absolutely thrilling to me. Add to that a top-notch cast and gorgeous orchestrations and I was in musical theatre heaven. That's why I included it.

Oh ok. I have a question though, is it an Encores! thing that they have the scripts with them or is it just an Of Thee I Sing! thing?

An Encores thing. It's called a staged reading.

My Top 5 For 2006:

1. The Wedding Singer (5)
2. Grey Gardens (1)
3. Evil Dead: The Musical (Off-Broadway 2)
4. Title Of Show
5. High Fidelity (2)

I made a list of all your faults, it was quite detailed and lengthy too and when I read it through I missed you. Your like a classic Eagles song, you just cant help but sing along even though it sometimes gets annoying too. I just know I want to be wherever I can wake and see you there next to me. **High Fidelity** Love is what I do **The Wedding Singer** Xanadu - Best NEW Musical of the Season!

Not everybody gets to see everything the year it opens...and Sweeney didn't open until November 2005, so I say feel free to include it in your 2006 top ten lists! It would certainly be on mine...the final performance was one of the most thrilling evenings of theatre I had this year.
