Overheard two old ladies talking as I left the theatre and thought you folks might find it amusing:
ELDERLY WOMAN #1: Donna Murphy was just wonderful! I'm surprised I liked her so much, since I hated her in PASSIONS [sic].
ELDERLY WOMAN #2: She was in PASSIONS [sic]?!? The soap opera?!?
"You travel alone because other people are only there to remind you how much that hook hurts that we all bit down on. Wait for that one day we can bite free and get back out there in space where we belong, sail back over water, over skies, into space, the hook finally out of our mouths and we wander back out there in space spawning to other planets never to return hurrah to earth and we'll look back and can't even see these lives here anymore. Only the taste of blood to remind us we ever existed. The earth is small. We're gone. We're dead. We're safe."
-John Guare, Landscape of the Body
Jennifer Holliday's been dead a long time, silly. Like since the 1950s. She was a very sophisticated lady, though. She was great as Glinda in "The Wizard of Oz" film, too. Updated On: 2/13/07 at 09:46 AM
Wasn't Alexis Carrington in the original production? And Yvonne Elliman?
"Impossible is just a big word thrown around by small men who find it easier to live in the world they've been given than to explore the power they have to change it. Impossible is not a fact. It's an opinion. Impossible is not a declaration. It's a dare. Impossible is potential. Impossible is temporary. Impossible is nothing.”
~ Muhammad Ali
I thought she played Morticia Adams. Another fun fact: John Huston, who played Gomez, was also the father of the later film version's Morticia, Angelina Jolie. Updated On: 2/13/07 at 12:22 PM
Does anyone have the bootleg of the Boston tryout, where Sally's folly was "And I'm Telling You I'm Not Going"? I always thought it worked better for her than it did when Sondheim reused it in Dreamgirls.
