Two entirely different scenarios.

HAIRSPRAY is a very family friendly PG movie. Sweeney will most likely be R, and is a bloody thriller aimed at mature audiences.

i don't think they're THAT different.

both were directed by a male.

both come out in 2007.

both star humans, as opposed to other films that star barnyard animals.

^ That... made me fall out of my chair laughing. Maybe due to lack of sleep lately.

I think I'm anticipating that movie more than any other 2007 film.

Okay, maybe not as much as THE DARJEELING LIMITED.

Well, am I the only one that is kind of worried about Sweeney since the reaction to Hairspray has been so positive so far? I mean, we couldn't possibly be lucky enough to get TWO well made, successful, and well-received film adaptations of American musical classics in the same year, can we?

That said, I live in southern Illinois, just outside of St. Louis, but I'd be willing to drive almost anywhere in the continental US to see a midnight showing of Sweeney on December 21st, instead of waiting for a 12:50 PM showing on January 11th! Then again, December 21st is my mother's birthday, so while I would, I don't see that happening for real. re: Now that HAIRSPRAY is out...

Wait, I thought Sweeney was opening nation wide on the 21st?

Not according to IMDB (which is, granted, IMDB, so who knows?), but I certainly hope it's wrong!!!
