To be fair, while Jennifer Lopez is no Andrea Burns (who is?), she would probably be quite funny as Daniela.
I can't imagine Ms. High Maintenance herself would submit to a minor role like Daniela, but that's the only role she COULD play (unless she's under the delusion she can still pull off Vanessa, which is a possibility).

I'm really pleased, I always thought that it would be perfect for a modern day movie musical, very 'now' with its dance/music/storyline and not in the least bit cheesy so it applies to wider demographic than just HSM/Hairspray/Mamma Mia followers.
It would be a mistake however to just have the OBC reprise their roles, it's unnecessary. They are great performers, but movie acting/singing is not the same thing. Movies are all about 'names' selling tickets.
It's the perfect opportunity to get in great Latina/o actor/singers who have previously not had a film 'designed' for their style, inspirations and heritage.
Jennifer Lopez, Christina Aguilera, America Ferrera, Eva Mendez, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan, Enrique Iglesias, Salma Hayek, Rosario Dawson, Antonio Banderas, etc etc.
Then of course with Benny, you get the opportunity to divulge into Black hip-hop/rap/R&B singer/actors.
The possibilities are bountiful for a star filled cast.
There is always the opportunity to 'introduce' Lin-Manuel too, a la Dreamgirls (Jennifer Hudson) and Hairspray (Nikki Blonskey).
"You really can't blame OBC for for The Producers' failure. The only 2 in the movie that didn't have a Hollywood career before hand were Gary & Roger."
Roger had already starred in The Insider and the Stepford Wives remake
Namo i love u but we get it already....you don't like Madonna

Does America Ferrera sing? America as Nina was the first imaginary casting I did in my head, months ago.
Rita Moreno is pushing 80, she is too old to play the mother of a teenager (Nine is supposed to be 19 at the most). She is ideal for Abuela Claudia, I'm just not sure she can play a woman from Cuba, since every time I've seen Moreno play a Latina, she injects the role with her fantastic Puerto Rican flair. This is a problem when she has to play Mexican, for example. America Ferrara would indeed make a great Nina, and she could actually pass for a 19 year old. I'm not sure she can sing though. Kevin has the dullest song in the show, and it'll inevitably get cut for the film (it'd stop the movie cold), so no to Antonio Banderas playing the role.
"Some people can thrive and bloom living life in a living room, that's perfect for some people of one hundred and five. But I at least gotta try, when I think of all the sights that I gotta see, all the places I gotta play, all the things that I gotta be at"
Watching a lot of GLO gets you thinking. Since he only sings Piragua, which will probably get cut, he doesn't need much of a singing voice.

It depends on how they change her appearance. we haven't really seen her without makeup with full eyes brows in clothes college kids wear. she definitely has a face that could look younger.
