I love parrots and cockatoos. I miss Powder, a cockatoo that made me laugh daily when I was getting better. Powder was not as funny as Snowball but he was a loving bird. They are great creatures and very affectionate.
I thank Iffloat for showing me this when I was in the hospital. Updated On: 12/16/08 at 07:21 PM
Jane, What kind of parrot do you have and does it talk? Powder would say "HI POWDER" "I miss you," " DON'T LEAVE" I LOVE YOU! I miss that bird. He picked his feathers off when I left him.
Powder was ignored at the place I stayed for ten days. I was the only one he liked, I hope he is ok. He is a sweet bird and we would spend a lot of time together. After ten days he let me hold him and would let me pet him like a dog. I miss him every single day. Updated On: 12/16/08 at 07:29 PM
I have a blue front amazon, corine. I'm not the first owner, although I've had him over 25 years already. I think his first owner abused him, that's why I bought him.
He does talk a little, and if I had him from a very young age, I think he would talk more.
A parrot picking out his feathers is very serious. And often it comes from being neglected. It's so sad. I once saw a documentary which showed an entire room of parrots who had diseases, mostly from being neglected. I couldn't watch.
I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.
I guess if you owned one of those powder shedding things, it would be fun.
Having lived with one that did nothing but scream, throw food and was never happy, no matter how nice we treated it...
No, not really all that cute.
But at least it's not a link to Corine's webb site.

Jane, He is at the rehab place I stayed at and the people who ran the place were nice to him but the older people never talked to Powder. We bonded. He was very talkative and wanted me to play all day. I spent about two hours a day with him when I was done with my Physical therapy. He could sense I was down and not like the others there and would do things each day to make me smile.
He is missing a lot of feathers. I asked them if I could adopt him when I got better but they refuse to do it. I do have visitation rights and plan on visiting him next week. Sweetest bird, ever. The day before I left I told him I was leaving and he started screaming "DON'T LEAVE, DON'T LEAVE I LOVE YOU!" I wish men would say that to me. He is a special little bird. "I have also met him in person, and I find him to be quite funny actually. Arrogant and often misinformed, but still funny."

I don't get how an annkle injury turns into a 'bird saved my life' story...
Were you so depressed you were going to kill yourself?
