Not to be a harbinger of doom, but I was just looking at Telecharge and reasons to be pretty is now only on sale through June 14th. Previously, I believe, it was on sale until September 6th. Looks like if the show doesn't win big at the Tonys it will be closing the following Sunday, unfortunately.

sorry to hear this, truly....I was hoping to catch it later in June.

If we're not having fun, then why are we doing it? These are DISCUSSION boards, not mutual admiration boards. Discussion only occurs when we are willing to hear what others are thinking, regardless of whether it is alignment to our own thoughts.

Even so, it played a far longer run than originally, originally intended.

The commercial failure of this show once again proves that bringing successful downtown art uptown isn't always a good move.

This show should win Best Play. It's the best new play to open on Broadway this season, by far. Too bad. I hope to catch it at least once more before it goes...if it does, in fact, go on the 14th.

Sadly, unless you have movie or television stars in the cast, a four-person straight play about a serious subject matter is just not going to make any money on Broadway these days.

It also doesn't help that the play is, simply put, nothing special.

This news makes me so sad. It deserves the Tony. And I truly hope it wins so it will stay open.

I finally saw this play tonight, and was so disappointed. What a boring, uncreative play. Zzzz...

GOD OF CARNAGE, DIVIDING THE ESTATE, IRENA'S VOW, and THE AMERICAN PLAN were eons better than this show. Too bad VOW and PLAN couldn't steal the final two Best Play slots from 33 VARATIONS and REASONS.

This is kind of sad.. Such a short lived play. I hope they win the tony so they can remain longer. Was this show orignally off-broadway and transferred?

Yes, it transferred from off-broadway (MCC)

I hope it is able to be saved. How sad if it goes away.

I hope it does well at the Tonys and plays longer. I was hoping to see it on June 24 and would be disappointed if it closes.

What a horrid play! Heterosexual blue collars screaming at eachother for two hours about basically nothing. Go to Target or Costco, sit in the breakroom and watch them go at eachothe-------
Its the same experience and you'll save money.

One of the plays I've ever seen.

Yes, God forbid a show should be written about working class folks. Oh the horror! OH NO!!! You are absolutely right: Broadway should be reserved for stories about the privileged.

Wanker.

hilarious, ChristopherDurangFan...

I hope the change to the 27th, means the producers are encouraged, and are gonna try to really keep this awesome show open. I love it.

I am not an elitist snob.
(well maybe I am)
but there are plenty of wonderful plays about blue collar workers- even blue collar heterosexuals-
this isn't one of them.

Some good ones: A View from the Bridge,
Streetcar Names Desire, Death of a Salesman,
New England Fish (not the title but as close as I can remember)
Frankie and johnny in the Clare de Lune.

Reasons to Be Pretty is a dull uninteresting evening in the theatre for blue collars, elitist snobs, die hard theatre goers,
once in a blue moon theatre goers, heteros and gays.

Dull Dull dull. Its the kind of show that kills theatre.
Look at the ratings on Broadway box--it gets one or two stars.
