Clinton vs. Trump: The Path to Victory

Josh Marshall on TalkingPointsMemo.com explains why the current dynamic of Trump losing--and, especially, losing to two women--is becoming so powerful:

I suspect that in a couple months this will become the sum of most of the Democrats attacks on Trump both because it undermines the central premise of his campaign ("I always win; and I can make you win too."Clinton vs. Trump: The Path to Victory but also because these attacks cut visibly cut Trump so deeply, triggering a sort of psychic disembowelment. You can see this in the increasingly irritated and thin-skinned responses to criticism or any references to his flagging campaign efforts.

It is also why Elizabeth Warren - an unexpected Twitter street fighter - appears to have gotten so deeply under his skin. Trump isn't just losing. He's getting stomped by two women - in his world that is the ultimate, catastrophic indignity.

Just wait until we get to the debates. As long as there is a decent moderator (not a given) he will get stomped on, and in primetime.

What makes you think he'll even show up for the debate? I'm thinking he's more likely to concoct an excuse to avoid it and play the victim to drum up sympathy for himself and target more hostility to be directed on Clinton. He's incapable of mature or intelligent conversation, much less a debate.

A bunch of new state-level polls were just released, and while I know they are fairly meaningless this far from the election, it's still hard to resist over-analyzing them. Of course, it would be nice if HRC's leads were larger in some of these states, but it's encouraging to see that Arizona could be in play. And the senate polls look like there could be quite a few close races, even for McCain. Wouldn't mind seeing him kicked to the curb; his career over the last 15 years or so is a microcosm of the demise of the GOP.

House Benghazi Report Finds No New Evidence of Wrongdoing by Hillary Clinton

But the lack of any clear-cut finding of professional misconduct or dereliction of duty was certain to fuel further criticism of the length the investigation — more than two years — and the expense, estimated at more than $7 million, in addition to Democrats’ allegations that the inquiry was specifically intended to damage Mrs. Clinton’s presidential prospects.

The only surprising thing about that report is that it wasn't released on Friday afternoon, before the holiday weekend.

And it only took two years and $7 million to come up with nothing. Well done! The party of fiscal responsibility indeed.

It pretty much was. It's Tuesday before the holiday weekend. I think the Republicans were going to wait till Friday, but then the Democrats released theirs yesterday, so the Republicans had to move their up to this morning.

There will be a time of disappointment if Warren isn't the Veep, especially from Berniebabies, will it make a difference? Nope, we got this.

Well, I will be disappointed if it's not Warren, and I am decidedly not a BernieBro. Assuming Warren would still campaign for her, she would cast a huge shadow for the pick.

Once again, why hasn't the Headband been suspended for his repeated personal attacks? I asked this question before and my post was deleted.

Bloomberg is reporting that speakers for the upcoming GOP convention include Mike Tyson and Bobby Knight. Was Clint Eastwood busy?

Would the slogan for a Clinton/Warren ticket be "I'm with her...and her"?

Was out of the country for a couple of days and hadn't looked at BWW in that time. WTF happened in this thread? (Also, is that troll moving to North Korea? Virtually every other country in the developed and developing world has some form of internet access. Moving on...)

Ugh. This Warren stuff still makes me nervous. I want her to remain in the Senate, continue to gain seniority and with it more power and influence. I get why Hillary would want Warren on the ticket, but what's in it for Warren? She'd be 75 by the end of a two-term Clinton presidency.

The Washington Post is reporting that it looks like Trump has only given less than $10k to charity over the last seven years. I've given more than that. I guess we know why he won't release his tax returns.

New poll numbers out from a firm called ballotpedia, which I have never heard of before. This may be their first foray into polling (538 has no rating for them), so there is no track record here. But their battleground state polls give HRC leads in every battleground state, many by double-digits.

I am concerned about those white men who support but have never voted. They might be off the radar!

I read studies (on 538, I think) that said those voters were new to the primary process, but not new to the general election.
