Well done Hills, Trump is about to get hammered.
Why can't Matt Lauer just go away? Is there anyone at this point who doesn't hate him?
Well... that was a good night for Ann Curry, I guess.
Trump was a disgrace last night. Lauer was a complete and utter failure.
Another Presidential candidate heard from..."What's Aleppo?" Are you kidding me? Oh yeah, it's the new flavor of Mountain Dew! (Can you say, "no debates for you?"
Here's a link to Gary Johnson sounding Trumpian regarding Aleppo:

To be fair he was probably stoned.

I have long been a Lauer hater. He is insipid and not funny. The questions were moronic. This spoon feeding of Trump is disgraceful! Trump's performance was shocking and well below the bar which was set 2 inches above deck. Flynn is on the air this morning defending Trump's general comments. If the polls do not move after that display of ignorance and narcissism - god save us!
Based on Colin Powell's admissions about his email practices, I'm sure we can expect the House to form a committee to investigate him any minute now. Right?

This whole focus on the emails and the Clinton Foundation is just this year's swiftboating.
Powell didn't just admit to using personal email, he also admitted to deliberately flouting security regulations because he didn't like them. Can't wait to see the spin by Gowdy, Chaffetz et al., as to why that doesn't warrant investigation.
Can we hope that Lauer's utter failure will finally push the press to stop "LaueringtheBar" for Donald? More op-eds are popping up calling out the press on that. Hoping it's a tipping point moment.

"
Many dissenters would point out Powell used a public email address -- not a private server, which we now know had lower rated security and protection than Powell's personal email address as it was not run on a private server.

Is it your assertion that if Clinton had used a public email address, the GOP would not have gone after her?

Not at all. I just think it's terribly disingenuous and obtuse to compare Powell's methods with Clinton's since we know they are two completely different processes (private server vs. personal email address), albeit both wrong/shameful..
I stopped watching half way through Trump. The questions tried to sound hard but Trump was obviously ready. It was a charade.
I know posting about Humans of NY is such an your-aunt-who-just-got-Facebook thing, but today's Humans of NY picture and story featuring our gal Hills is well worth the brief read. Gives some great context for the origins of her sometimes guarded public persona.
And, coincidentally, Ezra Klein has a great video on the same very topic over at Vox today—the gap between the public's perceptions of Hills and those of her friends and colleagues.

Oh for crap's sake, it is not disingenuous at all--and neither of them did anything wrong or shameful or illegal or immoral or worth wasting this much time taking about.

Agreed!
The Putin obsession is so contrary to traditional GOP "values" and shows the complete hypocrisy of the current GOP leaders! How in the name of Eisenhower does Trump still have support from Ryan and the awful Senate for supporting a maniacal dictator? Reagan is rolling over in his grave.
According to Politico, Ryan was "visibly exasperated":

The media just won't stop all this bogus coverage of "those damn emails" and bashing HRC continues to be "a story". First of all, HRC really needs to tell it like it is and put this behind her; her staff and surrogates really must come out swinging. Secondly, if all these thousands of emails are gone, where did they go? Even if she deleted them by accident, they went to SOMEBODY. The recipients of all these emails should have their own copies on their servers on in the State Department system. Just get them that way. The Colin Powell thing is also yet another explanation of do's and don'ts from the prior administration.
Why Trump continues to get publicity and coverage for free is appalling. There is so much more evidence of dishonesty that is hardly ever discussed in any detail. (I even saw something this week about him suing a couple of small Girl Scout troops).
Lauer was and is a total joke. Ryan and no one else is brave enough to stand their ground; pathetic. Today's Washington Post has some very good editorials.

I often bashed Lauer before in a different thread. (I think he is a friend of our "ad" friend)
Chris Wallace will be an awful way to end the debates! He is the scummiest of the scum.
Why did Clinton's camp agree to Chris Wallace?
"FIFTY PERCENT," Hills? God. Right when Trump is drowning in criticism over his allegiance to Putin and some of the media is actually - gasp - showing regret over their handling of her email "scandal", she has to go and put her foot in her mouth and insult tens of millions of American voters.
She's right, of course. If anything, she's being too generous by saying it's only 50% of Trump's supporters who are motivated by bigotry. But, still, this does not feel like a remotely smart political strategy.
I know right HT. Just when she started to sound calm rather than shrill.

Candidates make mistakes in delivery of truth. This "misstep" could be fortunate as it forces the media and voters to address the beliefs of some Trump supporters. Trump is the most racist candidate in decades. Many of his supporters follow him as it gives them the opportunity to support white power.
