Here's AFI'S top ten list: http://www.vulture.com/2013/12/gravity-make-afi-top-ten.html

MOVIES OF THE YEAR:

12 YEARS A SLAVE
AMERICAN HUSTLE
CAPTAIN PHILLIPS
FRUITVALE STATION
GRAVITY
HER
INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS
NEBRASKA
SAVING MR. BANKS
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET

And while they're not exactly awards, Metacritic is keeping its usual running tab of critics' Top Ten lists: http://www.metacritic.com/feature/film-critic-top-10-lists-best-movies-of-2013 Updated On: 12/9/13 at 07:07 PM

AFI's list tend to be boring but they also tend to be accurate. Usually 1 or 2 films miss out. I would say the 3 most vulnerable are Fruitvale Station/Saving Mr. Banks (I am waiting for the guild nods to see how it does)/Captain Phillips.

Only Film Critics Society (OFCS) also had their nominations. There's was great but members completely copped to the fact most of them hadn't yet seen The Wolf of Wall Street.

I'd love to see Sam Rockwell sneak into the Oscar nominations, but I highly doubt that'll happen.

Justin Chang, one of the leading member critics of LAFCA, gives an insider write-up on the vote. Everything was so close. Glenn Whipp tweeted the official tallies that corroborate with Chang's write-up. Chang also revealed his ballot. Other critics have done this though Chang seems more conventional while when J. Hoberman tends to show his ballot at NYFCC, it just seems like trolling. Love that he had Elyes Aguis from The Past in his Supporting Actor category. That kid is on my short-list in the category and I want that film's kid ensemble to win something this year.

Karina Longworth, she's one of my favorite critics but she has semi-left writing film criticism in publications and has focused on writing on the industry and books for Cahiers du Cinema (check out her stuff on Grantland), also plans to reveal her ballot for LAFCA. She outed herself as the sole voter who put Simon Pegg for The World's End in her Top 3 at actor in which case, I am very interested to find out what else she put in her ballot. Even Chang acknowledged The World's End in his Top 3 at screenplay.

I'm glad to see The Great Gatsby getting some love in the technical categories from the Washington and St. Louis critics.

I watched it again over the weekend (third time seeing it now), and critics and audiences be damned, it's one of my favorite movies of the last several years. It keeps growing on me with each viewing. And the art direction, cinematography, costumes, and score are just brilliant.

Drug War?

How completely odd. It was good sure, but it was just another in a long line of Chinese crime thrillers that have been pooping up like weeds lately.

What ever gets To any kind of mainstream attention/recognition is fine with me. Plus I think the movie was more of a statement in how lousy action cinema was this year.

I don't see any glaring omissions or surprises.

And I have to say, I'm not all that excited about this year overall.

Nothing I'm really interested to see, except Saving Mr. Banks, and no big "wow" frontrunner movie. They all have something that turns me off, either a little or a lot.

Although I haven't seen Nebraska, I'm surprised Will Forte was left of the supporting actors list. He's gotten great reviews.

The SAG noms are also the first list that you can truly count as a "precursor" to the Oscars. While they don't get everything to line up exactly, the industry guild awards are the larger pool from which the majority of the Academy voters are chosen.

I was surprised Redford didn't make it.

Bruhl, who I've been a fan of for years, seemed to have lost his momentum so I'm glad he wasn't forgotten.

Shocked to see Redford missing. I respected the performance and the film more than liking them/ having a sincere emotional reaction to them, which perhaps played some factor.

Haven't seen AMERICAN HUSTLE- but I'm always in the Amy Adams camp, so I secretly wished she'd make the cut.

In terms of FRUITVALE, I would so much prefer seeing Melonie Diaz's chilling performance recognized over Spencer's. Spencer was great but subdued, and Diaz really carries the emotional weight of the film's third act.

I'm so sick of that bitch Streep getting nominated for everything. I bet they'd nominate her for homemade porn.

Really just can't with this Daniel Bruhl (Who I also really like) category fraud. He was co-lead in Rush. These are the type of nominees people circled months in advance. This is not a criticism of the voting but it's like in 2007 when SAG awarded Hairspray and 3:10 to Yuma both SAG Ensemble nods in one of the strongest years in film. It's because way too many studios decided to put out these screeners and screenings way too close to the deadline.

Other thoughts:

Dallas Buyer's Club in as ensemble is pretty surprising.

Really surprised how Redford was left out but the leading categories this year are stacked.

I'm still surprised at Bradley Cooper getting no traction in one of the most open categories. Previous nominee, same director, etc. SAG tends to push performances into categories so maybe there was a split on whether or not he could go lead or supporting.

I do think the later releases were effected. American Hustle did get in as ensemble and supporting actress but Sony was really super late on sending out screeners. Lawrence is in a pretty weak category, and one I see getting the most overlap with Oscars, and coming off a previous winning year. Adams' performance has been celebrated and she has been in the critics awards discussions but her performance is supposedly very subtle as opposed to everyone else being showy not just in her film but her category. She has to get in while nominee contenders lose steam, which I think Streep is most vulnerable at this point (the performance is polarizing, the movie's reviews are middling, and she won her 3rd- there might be some fatigue). But she also has to watch out for the category's X-factor, Adele Exarchopoulos from Blue is the Warmest Color being the Emmanuelle Riva foreign film nomination. Riva got critic awards and notices but did not translate to SAG or the Globes. I am rooting for Amy as well. It'd be great if she got her first lead nomination.

Wolf of Wall Street, I already mentioned why it seemed likely it would go empty-handed with SAG. Some people seemed surprised that Her was left off but I have no idea what WB's plans were with SAG anyway.

I was so shocked Redford didn't land a nomination, I had him pegged as an early frontrunner. It'll be an uphill battle to get a lead actor win at the Oscars without a corresponding SAG nod; it's never happened before in this category. My money is on Matthew McConaughey, he has that kind of role, though really, I'd love to see Chiwetel Eijiofor win. I cannot believe Whitaker got a nod, I guess I just don't get him as an actor, Oscar winner or not. I didn't realize DALLAS BUYERS CLUB would have that kind of support, doesn't deserve it IMO, but this is a sign that people are passionate about the film and I wouldn't be surprised to see it win lead and supporting actor.
I wish Amy Adams had been able to get in. The kind of subtle, measured acting she does tends to be overshadowed by louder performances (some of which are great--Viola Davis and Jennifer Lawrence--and some of which are too hammy for my taste--Melissa Leo). I hope she gets recognized come Oscar time, but the lead actress category seems pretty locked.

If Jared Leto wins an Academy Award...well, that would be sad.

Carrie Underwood was a more convincing Maria than Leto was as a trans.

The Wind Rises ended up in the Foreign Language category instead of Animated feature.

I find that odd, especially since there are only 3 noms in the Animated Feature category.

Also, love that Elba and Ejiofor both got 2 noms for lead actor (TV and Film)
