The US women's 4x100 relay got a reprieve today. In their qualifying heat, they were bumped during a handoff and dropped their baton. They completed the race, and filed an appeal, which was granted. Now, they have to complete a timed run alone, needing to beat the slowest current qualifier to make the finals.

"that is going to hard. If you have ever competed in a race and had to race by yourself, it is much harder to go as fast without someone racing with you

Edited - after reading more about it, I really have no sympathy. Still a shame.

They're now through to the final as the fastest qualifiers, so that's good.

Okay. I'm satisfied with his apology. But he's still Stupid-in-a-Speedo.

Ryan Ryan, "tantics", yoo shur do talk reel goood! What an a$$ (you can interpret that two ways). I used to think he would make a great sperm donor but with that brain, no just no.

As progressive as NBC (and NBC Out) are, why didn't they talk about Tom Daley's partner/fiance Justin Lance Black? What couple have an Olympic Medal winner and an Oscar winning screenwriter (Milk) between them? They are getting married. It was all over NBC Out but mass audiences, however smaller, still need to hear and know we are out and proud and everywhere. Instead we get super boob Lochte.

As a Brazilian, I've got to say I'm proud of the job done in Rio. Considering we had a strict budget compared to past games and also had not only the media exaggerating our problems and even lying, but almost the entire world saying this Olympic games would be a complete disaster and that we couldn't pull this off... I think we did great job!

In the end of the day, I fell like the success of this games were no only for us, but for every other nation (especially in Latin America) who gets looked down upon and referred to with prejudice (and even at times, disguised xenophobia). It wasn't without a few tumbles (they did happen, that's true! LOL), but we opened our arms to the entire world (even to those who didn't want us as hosts) and I think we were able to come out of this with a great and warm event! I hope the entire world had an amazing time watching the games, just as much as we had hosting them!

I second how amazing a city Rio is, and how thoroughly welcoming to visitors in general, so few of whom speak any Portuguese at all. My friends and I were there a year and a half ago for New Year's Eve 2014-2015. Being among 2 million folks all dressed in white heading down to Copacabana beach to welcome in the new year was awesome enough-- the real topper was the after-hours crowd at The Week following the fireworks. It was like the gods of Mt Olympus had descended to mingle with us mortal men for a few hours.

Who knows-- maybe we met Kadu on that beach or that dance floor that night. If so, Beijos!
