Sadly, the same thing crossed my mine, PJ.

Publicity stunt for what, though?

It makes me sick to think about this being a publicity stunt. The parents are wack jobs, but still... that's just sad.

That poor boy. I really hope he didn't fall out.

The same thing crossed my mind too. Apparently the father was trying to be a science reporter or something?

The same thought occured to me also.

If it's a desperate bid to gain 15 more minutes I hope they get the book thrown at them for endangering a child and the cost of the search team.

So what they are saying now is that he could have crawled into the box that was attached to the balloon, but untied it so that the box wouldn't be attached when the balloon took off?

How could that be then if they are saying there was something else attached to the balloon? They should be looking for the box too then?

And if the kid did leave the box unattached, wouldn't the box still be in their yard?

They are searching for the box. There have been reports of someone seeing something fall from the balloon. They've also just released a photo of something hanging from the balloon - though, it's unclear as to whether it really is hanging or something in the shot that looks like it could be hanging. Lots of crazy speculation.

Hope he's ok.

Publicity stunt for what, though?

You could ask the same question about "storm-chasers": Storm chase...why?!?

Things that are thrilling release certain hormones. People get addicted to that hormone release.

It's the same reason that trolls pop up on chatboards and start fake fights and controversies: They enjoy watching everyone get upset.

If that's the father's game, he scored big with this one. News reports all over the country led with WHERE IS THE BOY?

They're talking about trying to find him with night vision and heat vision. If he's dead how effective would heat vision really be? How long does the body stay warm? Anyone know?

Glad to know this kid is okay, despite him hiding and this all being a hoax. I hope if the parents knew, they get in serious trouble.

And yes, I remember them from Wife Swap. They were on it twice because they were voted for to appear in the 100th episode.

The 100th episode brought them and the family where the mother claimed she was a psychic. She did some sort of hypnotism on the guy and he claimed he was a captain of an alien space ship in a past life. That's the reason he believed she was for real, although he probably made that up in his own head and probably thinks it without someone helping him come up with it.

They need to come up with a cool name for him like Baby Glenn so that years from now people will know who you're talking about without having to drag out the whole story of the little boy who disappeared from the fly away balloon. That's not catchy.

Baby Balloonga is the only thing I can come up with at the moment.
