1. Re Ricky Gervais as host: I can't believe I sort of felt sorry for Mel Gibson, when Gervais called him out on his drunken rant regarding Jews. Gibson deserved it, but it was a squirmy situation.
2. I suspect that someone decided "The Martian" was a comedy because it had a joke or two about poop. [JUST KIDDING!]
3. I was sorry that the time got so tight that Harrison Ford didn't get to do a longer presentation.
4. Denzel seemed to have misplaced his speech as well as his glasses. What a tough time to have to ad lib! It was very sweet to see his wife and kids up there too. I've always been crazy about Denzel. Why the blankety blank is he a Republican?
5. I turned the broadcast on late. I missed my mad crush, Gerard Butler, flirting with Dame Helen Mirren during their presentation of the award for best foreign film. Since I've only read about the exchange in the British press, I'm wondering if NBC failed to televise that particular award. If so, that strikes me as condescending, when the whole point of the evening is that the foreign press votes for the winners.
6 Next year, let's have someone less vicious as host -- Donald Trump, maybe?
Audrey Liebross
Audrey, the Phantom Phanatic, who nonetheless would rather be Jean Valjean, who knew how to make lemonade out of lemons.
