Anyone like the show? I really like it. It's pretty funny.
I think there's already a few topics for it here... but, it is a good show. I've only caught an episode or two but they both were very good.
"Yes, the brutalities of progress are called revolutions. When they are over, men recognize that the human race has been harshly treated but it has moved forward." - Les Miserables
And I love Garland Grrrl.
*swoon*
Absolutely delightful. One of the best new series this season.
hey, i'm me again-- just like when the scarecrow had his stuffing put back. don't know how it happened.
UGLY BETTY is my favorite new show.
the casting is perfection. on the last ep when betty told her sister hilda to get rid of the tacky cut-out and hilda responded, "Oh no- you did not just insult Melanie" i thought i had found a new best friend.
"i thought i had found a new best friend."
Yeah, but you DIDN'T.

I adore UGLY BETTY.
"Maybe you should offer you're friends some flaun."
"Whats flaun?"
"Delicious custard"
"Ooh. BRING IT!"

An open letter to the writers of Ugly Betty (OK I know they don't read this board, but maybe they should)
***Spoiler Alert for those who aren't watching***
Last night's episode is starting down the wrong path for a really great show. You set us up with the premise that Justin's father was coming to visit for Thanksgiving. This was a great premise and had a lot of room for plot and character development. You got the father in the house, past the disapproving grandfather and showed us how the father and Justin are different (i.e. through the gift). BUT THEN YOU DROPPED THAT STORY THREAD. Instead you gave us a thread about a shady lawyer. You carried through on showing us Wilhelmina's progression with her daughter and Thanksgiving and you should have carried through showing us Justin and his father's progression with their Thanksgiving.
Please don't jump the shark with bumpy story lines. You can do much better!!
I thought last night's episode was possibly the funniest yet, but I agree that they dropped the father son thing. Maybe it will come up and that was just laying down the foundation.
I giggled when he said, "Oh look....a costume", but I literally laughed out loud when he put the cup up to his eye and said "Look! I'm the phantom of the opera!"

I hope it does and they develop it more, but I think the shady lawyer storyline could have waited another week. They chose to set the story at Thanksgiving and I think the show would have been more balanced contrasting the dinners between Wilhelmina's family and Betty's family (and of course Daniel's family).
The cable interferred with my Direct TV reception and caused me to miss a few sections.

The Dreamgirls moment was funny too. I also really liked the dinner scene with Nico and Whillamena (sp?). I think that is another relationship that needs some positive growth.

Loved last night, especially Amanda and Marc running around in ballgowns dancing and singing to DREAMGIRLS. I did however find the shady lawyer story annoying, but the episode itself was fantastic. I loved watching the cold heart of Grinchy Wilhelmina soften over her daughter, it was great. The Martha cameo was a waste and pure TV promotion, but you know, UGLY BETTY is my favorite show next to VERONICA MARS.
no i thought the Martha moment was hilarious. especially the camera inside the turkey and Vanessa Williams peeping in
From the previews, it looks like next week's episode (on Thanksgiving night) is almost a direct continuation of this week's storyline. When I saw that last night's episode was the Thanksgiving show, I thought, for sure, they'd be airing a repeat next week. Apparently not. And I just want to say how refreshing it is to see a character like Justin on a weekly series and how much I love the fact that no one (including his absentee dad) appears to have a problem with, or ever makes mention of, his "colorful" personality. And Marc's (drag) scenes with Amanda in last night's episode were friggin' HILARIOUS!
PS. For anyone with a High-Def set, this is one of the most beautifully photographed shows currently on the air. It's pure eye candy!
I saw the show for the first time last night and liked it...but it reads very ABC FAMILY or DISNEY CHANNEL to me for some reason...

"The Martha cameo was a waste"
I think it was misused. They showed in a previous episode how ga-ga Justin is over Martha, and they should have connected her to Justin in some way.

I know, they didnt seem to use that connection, which is why it was slighlty a waste.
I loved the turkey cam though, fantastic.
Thursday was always must see TV night with "Will & Grace". I thought once that was gone, Thursday would be just another boring night at home. Now thanks to "Ugly Betty" must see Thursday continues!
"I was the only pilgrim who could do jazz hands." Love it!!! And-Eric Mabius is the hottest man on television-next to James "Mike Delfino" Denton!
