AIM virus

ok guys, if you get an IM from someone on your buddy list with a link, DO NOT CLICK ON IT!! it's a virus and it disabled my firewall. i restored my comp to an earlier date so hopefully that f*ckin thing is gone from my comp

Ok look I have SO many viruses on mycomputer one more couldnt hurt.

Yep. I got this.

My computer had to be wiped.

It LOADS your computer with trojans, I mean one right after the other.

I had 100's of trojans.

i got that 2 weeks ago and i think i finally fixed it like 3 days ago after a million virus scans and spybot runs and system restores, etc..... yeah dont click it!

Oh- Thank G-d I am not the only one who has this da*n thing. My computer is giving me major stress. I can't even go on IM at all cause it automatically just goes buzurk. I am taking my computer in to the doctor tomorrow....it will probably need months there..lol

That is sooo true but this one seems to be a killer. Plus I keep getting this virus pop-up thing and it's not even like a regular pop-up. If you hear on the news something about someone throwing a computer out of a 2nd story apartment...it's only me.

Does anyone have any possible suggestions to fix this without bringing it to the doctor for 200$?

Suddenly- you said you restored your computer to a different date. Can you perhaps tell me how to do that to fix this issue?

It's something like, "hey this really looks like you" and then a link. Usually in courier new font. If you click it, it'll send it out to everyone on your buddy list that's online. If you happen to click it, be sure to warn everyone.

I've gotten about 10 of these IMs, never opened it, what is says is something like "Well I suream cool" and it's one word, I remember there was a typo where two words were combined. Anyway, then there's a link.

Yes, I got two. I clicked the first, but it didn't work and I didn't download the picture on the second. Should I be ok?

I get these when my away message is up so there is no way I click them. when I come back it's seems that it's been sent to everyone on my buddy list. Now I can't even get on AIM without it being sent to all my AIM buddies!

SOMEONE PLEASE HELPP!!! How can I fix this without taking it to the doctors! I don't really have money to get it fixed and I don't have the patience-- My computer is my life!!!

SweetQ- go to Start-Accessories-System Tools-System Restore and you want to restore your comp to an earlier time and the next screen should be a calender with dates in bold text, just click on the date you want to restore to and the rest is pretty explanatory

BT11- i think you should be ok, as long as you didn't download anything but i would do like a virus scan or something just to be safe

My PC was infected by one of those a while back... I had no idea until I came back to my laptop (which I leave on all the time), and saw a message left from the screenname I signed into from the PC. That was fun. I had to IM many people that day telling them not to click anyone, but I don't think it infected anyone else (it was during the day, so most everyone was away).

But, yeah, whenever you get a link in an IM, think before you click it. If any sort of warning bells go off inside your head, reply back before clicking asking what the link contains.

Yeah. I got that over the summer. Run your antivirus software of choice 85 bazillion times and pray.

I have no idea why it happened to me. I didn't even click it- I had my away message up!!

Suddenlyseymour - I tried to do the computer restoration but it didn't work. Thanks for trying to help me though.

It looks like my computer is going to have to go to the hospital for a few days

i got one that said "WOW!!!" and then had a link and then literally, 10 minutes later got another one from the same screen name saying "LOOK!!!!!" with a totally different link. thanks to this thread, i didn't click on them!

i have had the virus link sent to me by a number of different people..i just don't clink on any link now i'm sent on aim or any other messenger.

Obviously you shouldn't click on those links, but if you do (and most of us have) a great tool to use is AIMFix:

-it gets rid of most of those AIM link viruses without you having to completely restore your system, and it's updated constantly.

Thank God my computer blocks those viruses from coming up on my computer because I've clicked on those links twice (two different forms of it).
