AMERICAN IDOL

Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:11pmZoneace, how can you say that Adam didn't win because of homophobia?
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2528
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:12pmPredictable! However, when Adam and Kris sang together- Adam just totally shined! I think Kris should go into country music- he will be much more successful in that genre than pop- and he will last longer. Adam is just so much more enjoyable to watch- I can only imagine what his one-man show would be! America loves the underdog and at least it was Kris and not Gokey. Could you have really seen a Kris/Gokey matchup- it would have been pretty much the same. The producers got exactly what they wanted. Can't wait til SYTYCD tomorrow night!

Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:15pmThis sux! I'm a woman of a certain age from TN (150 miles from Conway), married to a man, mother of a 13 year old kid, former Southern Baptist, and I was so pulling for Adam! If this were important in the grand scheme of things,I'd be heartbroken. So off Kris goes to his Idol produced mediocre album, and here's wishing Adam something magical to follow up.

I have never once said I am done with AI. But I really think right now I might be. Of course that will likely change next year.
Ridiculous.
Anyway. SYTYCD. Tomrrow.
Whatever.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2531
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:16pmOh well. Good for Kris. Much easier to see Adam lose to Kris than lose to Gokey. Plus, Adam won't be saddled with that awful No Boundaries song, either. Plus.

Really not as upset as I thought I would be. I have a pretty good feeling that Adam will have more success than Kris.
On another note...Kris has got the typical radio voice...I will probably only know it was him I just heard when the DJ says his name. Nothing unique or distinctive about his voice. Adam on the other hand has got a voice like no other and as soon as his voice comes on that radio you will immediatly know who it is.

Me too, mom! SYTYCD will help me get over this devestating loss.
Seriously, Did anyone hear how the votes broke down? Why didn't they say? It's pissing me off!
I'm bitter.

How many "America's all homophobic and junk" threads are we going to see tomorrow?
My Facebook news feed is currently the site of the beginning of the Second American Civil War.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2535
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:18pmI also think Adam will get more offers in the entertainment business as far as TV and movies. Just about every celebrity was pulling for him.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2537
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:20pmJesus. Why can't they both be successful? Why does one have to have more success than the other?

Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:23pmKris definitely got the Danny Gokey votes. I voted for Kris last night because I couldn't vote for Danny. I'm glad Kris won. I was never a fan of Adam and still don't understand why the judges/America thought he was so great. I don't care for his voice at all.

I had said all along that Adam would be better off without winning, and he probably will, but for some reason I didn't like watching him "lose" a competition that he should have won.
Anyway, on to SYTYCD!

Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:24pmbdwaygirl- I don't think we're trying to say that one will be more successful- We're just trying to point out that finally, a runner-up is worthy for a successful career even though he didn't win idol. Anyone remember Bo Bice, or that Blake guy? Adam has more charisma than all the other runner-ups put together!
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2541
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:26pmI think they will both be sucessful. It's just frustrating when you really feel someone should win and they don't.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2542
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:30pmI think from here it's really going to hinge on them choosing the right material to record. I can see both Kris and Adam releasing CDs I'd love or CDs I hate. (Still giving the edge to Adam, though. I think it's 50/50 that I'll like Kris' CD, and 70/30 that I'll like Adam's.)

re: AMERICAN IDOL#2544
Posted: 5/20/09 at 10:31pmI'm pulling for Adam's success because if he gay, and he can come out publicly, and be a real superstar while being honest from the start, his career can mean something. Kris, as charming as he is, is no different from any other guitar playing singer. Did you see how similar to Keith Urban he was? Adam is different. He may well represent something different, and any time an out person is sucessful, bigotry takes a step backwards.

I'm so happy for Kris but I'm so sad for Adam. =/ I think Kris even wanted Adam to win.
I'm scared for the backlash that is going to fly Kris's way, and he really doesn't deserve it. He didn't choose to win.
Adam losing is going to outshine Kris winning.

So... I'm just going to rant for ONE time, and then I'll go back to being happy for Kris because he's adorable and talented and I love him.
I definitely do NOT think that Kris winning had anything to do with homophobia. But what DOES make me angry is the fact that if the judges had just freaking LAID OFF from time to time with the praise- if they would have stepped back and REALIZED that what they were doing was creating a backlash against Adam- he really truly might have won this thing. It was always going to be tough because Adam is highly polarizing by nature, but it DID NOT HELP that so many people were just plain fed up with how biased the judges were toward him. And it just pisses me off, because that is something that could have been COMPLETELY CONTROLLED. I'm really kind of shocked that they didn't say how many votes separated them. But I'm convinced based on DialIdol that is was NOT that much. Like, at all. I do not think Kris just ran away with it. And if it hadn't been for those maybe million or so votes that went Kris's way JUST because voters were frustrated with how Adam had been praised so heavily, the outcome very well might have been different.
So BOO YOU JUDGES AND PRODUCERS. I'm sure you didn't mean to do what you did, but you very well might have just robbed Adam of the title he DID rightfully earn. He didn't NEED your over the top praise to get by. His talent did it all on its own. So next time there's someone truly groundbreaking on your show, DON'T CREATE A BACKLASH AGAINST THEM!!!
argggggggg
But anyway:
YAY KRIS
he's adorable, so sweet, and VERY super talented
Oh and also, they are both SUPER class acts!! Adam was completely wonderful and supportive, and Kris said Adam deserved to win. SOO sweet <3

Actually, what I heard was how much better than Keith Urban, he was.

"Homophobia" is a complete joke in this. Winning is based on talent... I would hope. Who is more marketable, who has what it takes. Both I'm sure will be very successful in what they do. Give them time to find their niche.
I am a bigger Kris fan. True, I refused to watch this season because I can't stand the overhyping (which I think is finally dying down), but from the clips I've seen over the season and watching last night, I found I preferred Kris. I could see him covering different styles, from rock to softer music... like Michael Buble (sorry, it's late, my brain is fried).
