AMERICAN IDOL

Posted: 5/21/09 at 9:32amWhat I think is interesting about Allison is that she seemed to get all this support AFTER she was voted off. True, some people always liked her...but some people seemed to really support her after she was voted off.

Allison and Kris are the only two performers I ever thought gave a better performance than Adam. (Not overall, just on specific nights where Adam chose a ridiculous song and they chose a great song and performed it wonderfully.)
I listened to Kris Allen's unreleased CD. It was not bad.

Thought I'd weigh in on the night...
1. Was pretty shocked at the result. Thought that Adam had it in the bag. Guess not? I didn't read every single post from last night, but did they mention the difference between the two vote-wise?
Kris is more universally appealing, and since he's a little on the bland side, comes off as the perfect American Idol. I do think he's extremely talented, but I definitely thought Adam had the votes. I guess America isn't quite ready for a non-cookie cutter idol. (A gay Idol? GASP! The HORROR!!)
2. Kara was awesome. That girl can SING. She gave bikini girl a run for her money. PS, I hate bikini girl and hate that they gave her more air time.
3. Ruben's face during the Tatyana thing was priceless. PPS, I hate Tatyana and hate that they gave her more air time.
4. "We are the Champions" was kickass. Except the hand swaying.
5. I hate the group performances because it is sooo awkward to watch Scott in the mix. I'm going to hell...but sorry!!
6. Lionel Ritchie looks the same as he did 20 years ago. Good on him!

bikini girl = talent-free slut
del toro = crazy unfunny beyotch
I say this because I'm tired of the folks behind AI extending undeserving people's 15 minutes of fame.

Posted: 5/21/09 at 10:24amMost of the Idol winners have been from southern states- Kelly-Texas, Ruben-Alabama, Fantasia- North Carolina, Carrie-Oklahoma, Taylor- Alabama, Jordin- Arizona, and David-Missouri. Now Kris- Arkansas. And yes, Kara totally blew bikini girl off the stage!

I dislike that bikini girl and hate that they gave her and the others the extra 15, and wasting my time, but it wasnt much of a contest with her for Kara. The girl stinks...and Kara was just a bit better, imo...and the ripping the dress bit was idiotic.
"Reality" show, indeed!

Doesn't matter Adam didn't win to be honest.
Carrie Underwood, Kelly Clarkson and I guess Jordin Sparks are really the only winners who have made any impact on the charts.
Chris Daughtry and Jennifer Hudson weren't close to the top but they've definitely outshone the competition.
Adam will have a good run I reckon, and the Kris Allen guy will fade into the bland AI obscurity with other un-interesting contestants.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2608
Posted: 5/21/09 at 11:11amJordan Sparks!? I really don't hear her name mentioned much at all.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2609
Posted: 5/21/09 at 11:28amI think homophobia did play some part when choosing who to vote for. There were numerous blogs and posting which had people saying that they'd never vote for a "queer" as their American Idol. Happy for both of them and wish the both of them success.

I would say David Cook gets more airtime than Jordin Sparks.
But that's besides the point. It's true, Adam does not have to worry about his chances at fame. He will do great things, I'm sure of it.

"Alison was the star for me last night. Her vocal was gorgeous with my girl Cyndi. Amazing arrangement. She belonged in the final with Adam."
Doodle...I couldn't agree more.
They aired AI live here in Singapore this morning, so I stayed up to watch...not sure why? No big surprise. I knew America would vote for the cute one and not the more talented one. Don't get me wrong, I like Kris, but to me he doesn't have the full package that Adam possesses. At least Kris could admit that Adam deserved it. As others have stated before, Adam will go further than Kris will in the end. Jennifer Hudson is proof that you don't need to win the title to succeed.

I didn't know boobs was in Singapore?
And ditto on the bikini girl/Tatiana 15 minutes thing.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2613
Posted: 5/21/09 at 12:24pmThe reason the final wasn't Kris and Danny was clearly heterophobia, which has been demonstrated in this thread, and by the actual vote. Look how many heterosexuals are voted off the show, compared to homosexuals.
re: AMERICAN IDOL#2614
Posted: 5/21/09 at 12:46pmAlthough I was actually moved by Alison and Cyndi...seeing Queen again was pretty exciting.

Allison and Cyndi was my favorite performance of the night. It was unbelievable! That should be recorded as a single.
I listened to both studio versions of "No Boundaries" and I still think Kris's is more tolerable.

I skipped over the majority of the performances with the exception of Cyndi Lauper and Queen (though We Are the Champions is probably my least favorite Queen song). I'm happy for Kris and not worried about Adam in the least. Adam didn't need the title. The exposure and hype over the entire season will serve his career just as well, if not more so, as the win would have. And I have to agree that if homophobia played a part in the voting, it probably wasn't enough to matter. If it were truly the sole factor in the motivation behind voting, Adam would have been gone long ago.
I'm just glad it's over and I'll go back to ignoring the show. I lived up to my commitment and now that I've seen the show, my confusion over its hype has only been amplified.

Posted: 5/21/09 at 3:55pmLet me tell you what happened last night...Ryan announced The american idol is and then my tv screen went grey and an emergency broadcast system alert came on a with an amber alert message that lasted 5 minutes (turns out the kid wasn't kidnapped after all) so I missed the whole ending...other people in another county in NJ just got a craw message for the amber alert...thankfully they texted me to tell me who won

Adam and the rocker chick already have record deals in place. They will all be on Larry Kng tomorrow night. Just saw the teaser. Goakey is pushing eyewear? Funny how this morning everyone in the media is talking about Adam and not Kris.
Both will do well.

I really love this clip from CNN. It shows that Adam and Kris are friends, that they wish the best for each other, admire each other, and Adam is not upset at ALL.
It also completely disproves a poster's assertion that Adam was smug or felt he deserved to win:

So did anyone catch on Billy Bush on Access Hollywood yesterday, when he said that he got news from a very reliable source at the Idol headquarters, that Kris won by a HUGE landslide and thats why they didn't tell the margin of votes at the finale. They didn't want to put a damper on the Adam hype (I am not quoting the this..I am old lol and I can't remember word for word, it was quoted on the AI board though last night).
I think thats kind of a rude thing to do to Kris though, he deserves to know, by how much he was ahead.
Oh and Kris said Adam deserved to win..just like Adam said Kris deserved to win.
