Ugh, Euro last year was the death of me.

Or maybe it was because, in all honesty, I had a teacher WHO DID NOT TEACH AT ALL! He instead had us coloring in Scooby Doo pictures - no joke.

(To Elphie) I'm thinking A, right? Although I would feel pretty stupid if I got that one wrong.

Ironicaly, what was their attitude toward non-Puritans who tried to settle in the Bay Colony?

They wanted to set an example for others ( a "City upon a Hill") yet they did not accept people who were not Puritans.

Was that McCarthy? I know it "spied" on people or something to make sure they weren't communists. Something like that.

The House on Un-American Activities was a direct outgrowth of The Cold War. Its purpose was to "finger out" Communists in America--and went after many "High Profile" people--especially in the Entertainment Industry.

Unfortunately, its M.O. was very similar to the Salem Witch Trials--if someone accused you--you were then Guilty until proved Innocent. MANY cooperated with the Committee--just to be prevented from being named themselves.

And yes, the Chairperson was Joe McCarthy of Wisconsin.
