Whatever the reason, Lotus feels like the sad trombone at the end of this comeback trail for Aguilera.
I haven't bought it and have only heard the one single (which I liked).
Anyone have an opinion on the album?

There are divas tanking all over- Pink's album is a big disappointment as well. The kids can't get enough Taylor Swift, sadly.
But Pink has always been a singles artist and her new song has been number 1 for 5 weeks on AT40.
Taylor Swift is like the herpes of pop music.
I am a HUGE Pink fan and this album wasn't up to par. It was too electronica and seemed over produced. She quit smoking and regained her upper register and I don't like it. lol Some songs resonated with me, but other were flat. Her stuff has always been so autobiographical, I guess I was expecting more maturity in her writing. With the exception of Beam Me Up and Great Escape, they were mostly more, "my man is an ass," or, "I just want to party like a fool," stuff. I don't know what I was hoping for, but I didn't dig it as a whole.
I'm sorry Lotus hasn't been selling well. I've heard Your Body a lot out and about, so I thought it would be a bigger hit.
I have said it OVER and OVER again. She is an incredible talent…who should NOT be in full control of her career like she is. If she's smart she'll release that duet with Blake Shelton thats flying up the charts with no promotion.
I've seen her do a lot of interviews but no performances on shows. Maybe once The Voice wraps she can promote more. I know a guy who works on production at The Voice and they are pretty tied down to the LA area.
Sadly, the diva's are tanking and it comes and goes like that.

Maybe Cher will break the mould yet again with her new record.
Okay: Christina Aguilera is by far the voice of our generation. With a voice like that, it's interesting to see how many of her songs are sexed-uped dance tracks and soft Sia-penned ballads. Is "Lotus" better than "Bionic?" I really liked "Bionic," and I only care for a new of the new tracks. (Side note: If Xtina released "Glam" as a single and added Pitbull on to "Desnudate," "Bionic" could have been really big!)
I think that instead of "Your Body," she should have pushed "Make The World Move" or "Let There Be Love" as a first single, with "Army Of Me" as a second single and "Just A Fool" shortly after the start of the new year. I think "Your Body" is a hot album track, but not a proper single. I also "Red Hot Kinda Love," "Light Up The Sky," "Around The World," and "Blank Page." "Circles" really harkens back to "Stripped," which I really appreciated. I also don't get how she compares "Fighter" to "Army Of Me" - the message is the same, but the songs are so different.
I know she is performing at the American Music Awards, but she really needed to get her name out there more as a solo artist and not as a reality television judge. She should have sung at the Whitney Houston tribute - her voice could match Whitney's powerhouse vocals (maybe not the nuances). I think she needs a makeover - it's fine if hse lost weight, but she needs to dress well and wear less make-up. She needs to stop with the fan, tiaras, and other crazy sh!t - she's not Lady Gaga. She tries so hard to as outrageous as Gaga, Nicki Minaj, and Katy Perry, but if she kept it classy and exciting like Kelly Clarskon and Beyonce, she'd have a better chance.
I love Christina and think she is an incredible talent, but she needs someone to take more control of her career. I know the past few years have been rough (see: Bionic, Burlesque, a divorce, award snubs, waking up hung over at Jeremy Renner's house after the Golden Globes, some trashy outfits, unflattering hairdo's, fumbling the National Anthem, tripping at the Grammy Awards, and so on), but she can do it. She is a fighter, after all!
I don't get the vitriol..I mean, she's just so sweet and humble!
Xtina: Maroon 5 haven't had that kind of success before Moves Like Jagger
I, actually, really like this album. It's more in the vain of "Stripped" (which is my favorite album of hers) than her others. I just really wish she would stop screaming and doing runs every two seconds when she performs live. "Blank Page" is my favorite track on the album and should def. be a single, along with "Just A Fool."
And I wish she would let her voice be her promotion instead of her clothes and antics. Unlike, say, Nicki Minaj....Christina has real talent and should let it shine like she did during her "Back to Basic" days. It's like that HORRIBLE rendition of "Make the World Move" on THE VOICE. Instead of just singing the song, people were talking more about that ugly ass costume she had on and that VERY flat scream she did. Calm down, Christina. Calm down!
You can't deny the girl has talent. But she has more ego than talent these days. And no, psychotic fanbase of hers, she hasn't earned that right to be an egocentric jackass. Have a certain level of humility for christsake.
While it's true than not every strong woman is a bitch, not every bitch is a strong woman.
I find P!nk and even Madonna to be far more genuine and relatable than Christina.
Hated the new Pink and I love her. The songs are dull and have no hooks
LOTUS is not a bad album. I am still trying to take it all in. The fact is that Christina has always had trouble releasing material that is up to par with her talent. STRIPPED came the closest, and even that album was criticized by some for being "all over the place." It's quite a shame that she just can't have a hit nowadays. I honestly thought that "Your Body" would take off.

I'm in the minority I guess but I loved the new Pink. I thought it was as great as any of her other albums.
"Taylor Swift is like the herpes of pop music."
One comes along each generation. Someone has to be the antidote to LaGaga. I'll likely never buy any of her music in this lifetime but the Taylor Swift brand pushes a helluva lot of product. Many parents consider her a safe alternative to much of what else is out there.
Strangely, I have listened to both Pink & Christina's new albums today.
I really like both of them. It's not my favorite Pink album (that title goes to either I'm Not Dead... or Funhouse... or Missundaztood... see, Pink is just at this point where it's hard for her to top herself), but it's solid.
I agree with the assertion that Lotus is Christina's best album since Stripped. Or, at least, it's my favorite since then. Really lovely work. Very pop-y and dance-y, with some nice ballads, and a lot of vocal prowess. There just aren't a lot of pop singers out there that have the voice to back their brand, and Christina truly does.
"Christina Aguilera and Lana Del Rey both released collections of new music this week. Neither artist is a great diva in the neo-classic, pop sense of the word, but both have potential. To evaluate their diva status, I will shamelessly crib a comparative schism that Tyra Banks has routinely used on America's Next Top Model: each of them has what the other does not."
Where Have All the Divas Gone?
Thankfully, the second single from LOTUS will be "Just A Fool" with Blake. I think this song has a chance.

I also lOVE Pink's new album! And her video for "Try" is so, so good. She can do anything. Haven't listened to Christina's yet, but I guess will get around to it eventually.
Certain singers are not meant to be in control of their own career. Take for instance Kelly Clarkson (who I love). The one album she fought for and had a majority of the control flopped. "My December" was panned by critics for being to dark and wasn't that great of a commercial success. She learned her lesson (in my opinion), the company took back alot of the control and her next single from a new album had something like the quickest airplay gain ever.
Same for Christina, every album she put out they gave her a little bit more control. On "Back To Basics" she basically did 80% of the work, the stars aligned, it was a hit and it worked. They gave her full creative control for Bionic and it bombed badly.
This album they took some control back, having approval songs, she could pick her producers etc. but they got final say of what gets on the CD. Personally, I think it's a great album. I think she's finally mastered how to get her vocals that she wants, on a dance track with a beat that the public wants. What she doesn't know how to do it promote. To many interviews and not enough performances. The public in my opinion have forgotten that she's a singer and not a judge.
If "Just A Fool" is the next single, even though I don't think it is because she seems to be pushing "Blank Page"/"Make The World Move", it should be. That song got up to #13 on itunes by itself. That speaks volumes. You can't deny what the people like.
RCA confirmed 'Just A Fool' as the second single.

'Make The World Move' would have been a massive flop.
Very smart move on their part. Now the question is, why isn't she performing it tonight?
thoroughly enjoyed Pink's new album. "Blow Me" is the basic Pink standard, but her duet with Nate Ruess(from fun.) for "Just Give Me A Reason" is, IMO, her best collaboration. "Try" is also pretty damn good as well, and her video(w/Broadway's Colt Prattes) is AMAZING!!
Pink KILLED at the AMAs. I think ~FF~ is hitting it on the head. Some of Pink's past albums have been so damn good, she can't top herself. I have been listening to it in the car on repeat and there are songs that really are growing on me. There are still a few I have to skip over.
Christina tried way too hard.
