It should be clear that using a slur in anger with intent to hurt someone is completely different than using it without malice and saying, "Well, naturally! We've always done that and said that."

Neither one is right, but they aren't the same thing. One is using it as a weapon, the other is using it as an acceptable way of life.

Besty.. I am in total agreement with you. I just wanted to add that my hubby has worked in production with Alec and he has always been warm and kind to both of us. I would never peg him for a homophobe. That being said.. I hate hearing **** like that.

Also... neither of us would throw him out of bed for eating crackers.

Ugh, I miss the man of my childhood crushes. Are any of the Baldwin's worth crushing over anymore? Stephen is a write off obviously, the one whose name I can't remember was never... Howabout Billy? He was hot in Sliver. He seemed fine with doing love scenes with Candis Cayne on Dirty Sexy Money. Has he said anything lately?

I got to hang out with Billy at an event once (this is a hundred years ago now). He was there with Chynna, who was doing interviews and schmoozing with the press. It was an event for one of her projects. I was with three other friends, one of whom had interviewed Billy for a magazine, so Billy knew him already.

We were introduced, and he said, "Hey, do you mind if I hang out with you guys? My wife is kinda busy, and I don't want to get in the way."

I actually thought that was very considerate. He was a pretty big star right then, and the media could have easily focused on him instead of his wife (and it was her event, not his). So he stayed on the sidelines with us at this after-party.

I don't (and didn't) know anything about his social, political, or religious beliefs. I honestly hadn't read much about him. But he was such a nice guy. Hilarious, charming, completely relaxed, open, and a lot of fun. And he was hanging with four gay guys at an event and didn't think anything of it. He wasn't "posturing" or working the room, etc. I know this is overused, but he was very real and down-to-earth.

We had a blast that night! And Billy was part of our gang.
