Paris was far from the best. She only has a strong middle range and her lower range and upper range are virtually non existant, and it shows. She overshoots every note she sings, and she's too dramatic. At this point I'm irritated with her and I was trying very hard not to be. It bothers me that the judges refuse to give her any real criticism just because she has a famous grandmommy and a unique voice. Simon would have kicked any other performer's ass for being as off pitch as she is almost all the time.
Don't be fooled just because she has a unique voice. She's just too young to be doing this. She's going to blow her voice and that'll be the end of that for Paris. Someone needs to tell her that her vibrato is way too wide.
I agree that Chris's limitations as a singer are masked by his choice of material (being the other unique voice in the competition--Bucky does nothing for me) and a lot of flash. I do think he's one of the better singers on the show though, sad to say.
I missed Katherine but she's usually my favorite. Of what I saw last night, good old reliable Taylor. Always gives a fun performance, usually vocally on.
I like Ace, but he's inconsistent. Lisa just can't seem to find the right songs, and at this point there just may not be any out there for her.
I'm pretty adamant about Kevin needing to go. His endlessly vacant stare is grating me majorly.
To be honest, I'm watching for Ryan Seacrest. I'm still waiting for him and Simon to make out.
