American Idol - You Be The Judge

I still think that Blake and Chris should move in together and have babies...they are both adorable.
Even though Melinda is the best singer, I wonder if her aw shucks thing is going to grate...it's starting to bother me (and Paula crying put me over the edge) and she reads so much older than the rest.
I actually like Haley's voice, but like Brandon, she's a terrible performer. I had to look away when BOTH of them forgot their lyrics last night.
I agree about the song choices. The best song choice was "Love Child" for Gina, but I'm not that impressed with her yet.
"The Boss?"
"Love Hangover?"
"The Land Before Time?"
Bad choices all!

Dialidol proves that VFTW has Sanjaya votes (3rd place behind Lakisha and Melinda? Really?), but who is voting for Brandon??? He's ranked #4.
Lowest vote getters are Blake, Chris Sligh, and Stephanie. I predict Stephanie will get cut tonight.

I agree SoMMS, but she reads older than 29 to me...about 37 actually.
Not that that matters to me, but may to others...it was just a thought.

I know what you mean. I like her and believe she is humble. But she's still THAT surprised at her positive audience reception? The first and second time, sure. But still? How many weeks are we into the performances?

DialIdol is predicting that the top 3 last night were Melinda, Lakisha and Sunjaya...
How is he in the top 3?

I really don't want Sligh to go.
I know he rubs some people the wrong way and he's not that easy on the eyes, but I'm serious when I say I LOVE the sound of his voice (even though he has a lithp!) and look forward to hearing it every week.
Sunjaya is ridiculous already. I didn't even bother commenting on his performance earlier because, really, what is there to say? He seems like a very sweet boy, but he's just so clueless and SO bad. Who in the WORLD encouraged him to sing "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" with that whisper-thin voice he has?

Know who's voting for Sanjaya?
The backup singers...they never got so much exposure!

"I also respected Chris Sligh's attempt to update his song even though it was a failure. I respect any of them that try to be an artist and not just give us more karoake. And this is why I love Blake. "
Jerby--I do agree with you about them making attempts to make the songs their own. It is nice to see that we do seem to have a few "musicians" on the show this year, rather than just "singers".
And it's great to see the contestants being given a chance to work with the band and play with arrangements, rather than just being forced to do a song the way the accompaniment tape was recorded.

Amen!
And I think the contestants should be allowed to play intruments. Blake plays guitar and I think piano. He also does great stuff with a Kaoss pad. Let the boy tear it up!

Posted: 3/14/07 at 10:43pmYou would think that someone would talk Sanjaya into dropping out of the competition. He KNOWS he doesn't belong and that people are voting for him because he is the worst. He should take the high road and bow out to make the competition more fair.

Posted: 3/14/07 at 10:47pmThe look on Sanjaya's face going back to the seats tonight was pure dread--I think at this point, the judges' comments are affecting him and maybe he's hoping he gets voted out because he knows he doesn't belong. The poor kid's confidence is going to be at an all time low for a long time because of this experience.

Poor Sanjaya! Hey, I don't think "Vote for the worst" has EVER made a difference-- this year their choices got voted off week after week. I think kids like him-- go read the comments on any site and the "real fans" gush over how much they love him.
Why shouldn't he get to sing? I am sure the poor thing packs his bags every week, but I have a feeling he could be in for the long haul.

Posted: 3/14/07 at 10:55pmIt's a good thing the judges don't comment on the guest's performance..."Diana, that was all over the place. Very pitchy, all glitz and no vocal talent. This is a SINGING competition, if I heard that on the radio without all the bells and whistles of your overly made up and costumed self, I would turn the dial before the first phrase was complete. A complete and utter MESS!"

I just watched the show. Pee-yew, Diana Ross can no longer sing, if she ever could.
Did we expect Sanjaya to be eliminated? no. I'm just looking forward to some better song selections next week.
