Was there tonight. The Paula moment was just too much. There was a collective gasp in the theater. Disney Hall is gorgeous. I had not been. Did anyone else think that Terri Hatcher looked like Michael Jackson in that video?

Josh Groban and the kids was the highlight for me, and I was at home!

It must have been amazing to be there!

"Did anyone else think that Terri Hatcher looked like Michael Jackson in that video?"

HA! Yes. What happened to her? Remember the gorgeous woman from Lois and Clark?

Bo was my all time AI fave, but Carrie Underwood sounded really, really beautiful ("I'll Stand by You") last night.

The show is awful this year. They are forcing Jordin down our throats. I like her, but again the best singer is not going to win. Its all about money and stuffing there pockets. And the judges should be ashamed. I didn't hear them dig into there pockets last night.

I don't care who wins, but I prefer Jordin to Melinda.

AMERICAN IDOL jumped the shark this week.

For once, JohnBoy, we agree. After avoiding it all season, I watched last night and was completely appalled. The crass commercialism of AMERICAN IDOL and the plight of the poor make for very unsavory bedfellows. Weird.

Borstalboy-- You know after a lifetime of working at the grassroots level...contributing to One since it was founded I am no longer fussy about how people hear of it -- just that they do. People are dying needlessly -- if it take something as crass and pop culturish as AI to open the eyes of even a fraction of their audience to become more involved in the issue and perhaps motivation to contribute their 1% -- then who I am too argue?

I agree, RadiGal. I have to applaud AI for "giving something back."

Jim Colyer - like your songs, your intelligence lowers the bar for all.

An amateur is someone who loves what they do and, thus, does it for the love. Yes, these people are amateurs. And so are you (unlike some of the AI contestants, however, you are an amateur who isn't very good).

Sorry, it had to be said.

Jane -- hold on, I wouldn't go as far as 'to applaud them'.

Indeed, I found it a little revolting that they pandered so much to the "American" audience of AI that much of the money will be spent in the states. There is no record of abject starvation (without some form of child abuse involved, that is not to say there are no under nourished children, there are, but none are in eminent danger of being one of 14,000 that will die today worldwide)in all of North America ... which is what the One Foundation is working to end.

Bon Jovi's my favorite band I enjoyed most of the performances. Unfortunately, Jordin seemed pretty spastic trying to get it done, since I really like her, I hope she had enough votes last week to get by this week.

Lakisha picked a great obscure song ("This Ain't A Love Song")and I mostly dug what Blake did with "Bad Name."

I don't know who to vote for...I think Lakisha, Chris, Blake and Melinda are all worthy of my votes.
Thank God Jordan was sensational last week or she'd be hitting the road for sure this week.

Here's what I thought tonight-Jordin was the only one who really couldn't rock it.
I still don't like the sound of Chris's voice. Lakisha managed once again to fake it, meaning she sang it out, crouched down and pretended to rock it-ALL WITH THE DEAD EYES.
Blake and Melinda were the best, I thought. God, is there anything Melinda can't do?

I'm hating on Simon's hairdo. Time to change it. To me it looks like one of those brushes they use at the car wash, flattened out on the top of his head.

Blake was great, although I am starting to get tired of the beatboxing thing. I like him better when he just SINGS!

Melinda was the best HANDS DOWN and she deserves to win this competition.

On a side note, almost all videos from youtube that criticized last week's performances were deleted for "copyright" issues. Yeah right!

Phil did a good job.

Jordin...oy. Nothing about it worked. I did like the hair, though. Very Chaka.

Chris was horrible! I thought the song was a terrible fit and he whined throughout the entire thing. Sweet guy. Cute guy. But he was awful.

Blake! Blake! Blake! Like Jerby, I feel he's the ONLY one I'd happily sit through a two hour concert for. This second! I love his voice, his vibe, his style. He's fun and he takes chances.

For once, I felt Lakisha DIDN'T have the dead eyes. She was good.

I feel like I'm supposed to love Melinda, but I just can't. She WAS terrific last night. She has so much going for her and I recognize that...she's a great singer as well as a great performer. More often than not, she connects with that she sings. Her phrasing is sophisticated. I don't know...I think she just doesn't have any star quality and she definitely doesn't have sex appeal. I guess you can't help who resonates with you and who doesn't.

Overall, I thought it was a pretty fun night on Idol! Jon Bon Jovi is aging beautifully. I love when those baby-faced pretty boys (John Stamos, Bon Jovi, Rob Lowe) turn into handsome men!

Blue-how does Lakisha rate on the sex appeal chart? (LOL).
