Posted: 2/21/07 at 9:54pmIt was, she's an amazing singer, what they said about it being a different league from everyone else was true, but it was not much more than an imitation performance. Im not saying it wasnt amazing, it was, she blew me away, but it wasn't original

Posted: 2/21/07 at 9:55pmshe did almost the exact same riffs as Hudson... but she was much better than most of the others...

Cliché, but superbly performed nonetheless.
#129re: American Idol - Performance Appraisals
Posted: 2/21/07 at 9:57pmShe was great, but obviously she was trying to channel Hudson; some of the riffs were exactly from Hudson.

Stephanie, Sabrina, Jordin, Melinda, Gina, and Lakish look to be the obvious choices for the 6 girls to make the final 12.
and as usually, someone lese (luscious in this case) took what i said in like a paragraph and said it in like 5 words cause i have a tendency to ramble.

Posted: 2/21/07 at 10:11pmMelinda rules, and Gina's my girl this year. I liked Sabrina too. It took some cojones for Lakisha to perform that.

Posted: 2/21/07 at 10:15pmI really enjoyed Lakisha's performance. I didn't think it was really a carbon copy of any other version...

There were some great girls and some boring girls, but I wanna talk about LaKisha's performance--she's VERY lucky she pulled that off. Because I actually thought it was a pale comparison to JHud, JHol, even MThom. It was good, but not great--and it could have majorly backfired with Hudson's sublime version in our ears.
But having said that, she clearly impressed everyone there. I think she's got a great voice, and I look forward to seeing her tackle something else.
And on a related note, certain songs need to be retired from this show--they've been overdone to death.
ETA: LaKisha was not the best tonite in my opinion.

If Jordin, Lakisha, Melinda, Sabrina and Stephanie are not amongst the 6 girls standing. It is a crime.
The guys suck. Its a girls competition. Wait, let me rephrase that- a black girls competition.

according to DialIdol.com, Sabrina is in the bottom 3 right now.
Its not the MOST accurate thing, but usually gets its close.

Posted: 2/22/07 at 7:54amLakisha was alright to me. It was an okay performane of that song. I mean if you can halfway get through it, then itll probably be the song of the night just because. I think Melinda did fabulously and easily had the best performance of the night to me.

Posted: 2/22/07 at 9:34amI've been watching American Idol Rewind (didn't start watching the show till the third season), and there were two girls in the top 30 who sang And I Am Telling You. They were both fine, nothing earth shattering. The judges fell all over themselves for Simon's fave Tamyra, and just went meh to the other girl (who I think was actually better). If anyone else sang that tonight, they would have been ripped apart. And frankly, I agree with jrb. Didn't think Lakisha was the best at all. Melinda holds that honor for me.

Posted: 2/22/07 at 9:48amSeriously, they should throw out all the guys and all the white girls and get down to business.

I love Lakisha, but put me in the camp of those who did not think she was the best last night (Melinda Doolittle was) and that that was not a particularly good version of AITYING. One thing against anyone who tries that song on AI, is that they have to chop it up. It makes no sense, especially musically. Lakisha's arrangement was terrible...and she lost me in the end. I love her voice, and thought she was great up until now, but it is Melinda who is in a class by herself.
I think the judges were too quick to crown her the one to beat, as they may feel differently once they hear what we heard. I have to believe that it is a totally different experience in the theater, as has been indicated by retractions by the judges in the past.

I dont know if this request is kosher, but it was asked of me to research:
Could anyone help me with setting up an AI pool? I've participated in reality show pools, but have no idea how to set one up or administer it. I will be looking around google, but so far have come up with nothing.
Thanks

While I agree that LaKisa was good, she wasn't as great as they made her out to be. It definitely ranked below Holliday and Hudson.
My favorites were Sabrina and of course, Melinda, who in my opinion should have walked away with the crown last night.

Posted: 2/22/07 at 10:42amMelinda is my favorite too. She is so sweet and innocent as a person, but when she's singing, she is a confident star. No more backup singing for her!

Lakisha obviously has quite a voice, but her "And I Am Telling You" left me cold. And unimpressed. I give her credit for doing it, but it didn't seem to me that she was feeling the song. To me, all she was doing was making faces and indicating. I was stunned when the judges loved her.
That said, Antonella sucks and Melinda is my favorite.
