Anyway, I missed NPH last night, and that makes me sad. I personally would love to see him judge the show, rather than Ellen. I mean, he has some credentials in the singing department. :)

I hope so, 'cuz this has been THE WORST pre-Hollywood week I can remember (and I've watched since Season 2). TOTAL snooze-fest.
I don't think they have shown any of who they suspect will be the Top 12 yet so as to not have a Lambert-mania-cum-burnout like last year (if that was a contributing factor to why he lost, though I think it was 99% percent his sexuality (how else to explain poor-man's-Jason-Mraz, Kris Allen?), but that's neither here nor there). The show can only get better!
And I officially HATE Avril, HATE. What a pill! NPH rocked, though! I am VERY curious to see how bad Ellen is going to be (insufferably nice and boring or uncomfortable train-wreck?)

I did really like the girl with the dead friend, though. She was probably my favorite of the episode.

The show needs to go with Simon. It became a joke as far as finding any legitimate talent quite a few years ago (at least as early as Taylor Hick's win), and has become a big mess of contrived sob stories and fake bad singers who are purposefully brought on (probably hired...) to do outrageous things. For some horrible reason, I find myself watching it these days, but it's definitely fallen under the category of TV that's so bad, it's good. It's no longer charming, but revoltingly good. If that makes sense.
I also could live with American Idol syndrome (everyone thinking that they know who is and isn't a good singer when they see them, and people thinking the test of a true star is more about the notes they hit than what they have to say) that's been plaguing the nation for the last 9 years.
