re: American Idol this Week

Interesting observations Louisa.

A David/David finale does seem likely.

re: American Idol this Week

I found last night be boring across the board. I'm a fan and I didn't care for David Archuleta's performance.

Surprisingly enough I actually thought Kristy Lee Cook had one of the better performances of the evening. She defintely is the one who has shown the most growth throughout the competition.

re: American Idol this Week

And I'm surprised that I thought David A's performance was his best yet. It was good to see he could hit those high notes instead of staying in his comfort zone all the time.

re: American Idol this Week

I am so surprised how badly Carly is doing. She's not as talented as I was giving credit...same as Ramalamadingdong.

KristyLee may be the smartest contestant ever, if not very talented.

I am so sick of Jason and Brooke...neither has impressed me at all as performers and neither is a good singer...why did they make the final 12? (That's right...everyone else REALLY stunk.)

David A did fine, but he is getting boring.

David C did well, but I'm not as amazed by him as everyone else seems to be. He better hope to be kicked off soon, if he makes the finals, I dont think he'll do as well in the future. Clive will make him boring. He needs to be kicked off like Daughtry.

No Kelly or Carrie in this crowd.

re: American Idol this Week

I agree with Tom, Kristy Lee def. gets the award for "Most Improved." While she still has shortcomings, I can't help but feel really proud of/for her. I think she has a few weeks left and will probably get to put out an album.

I am a big David A. fan, but have been left cold by him for the past few weeks. (Can anything ever top his "Imagine?") Why in the world was he in leather pants this week? And while "When You Believe" could have been promising, he let the background gals take over the melody while he just did runs - a poor choice IMO. He should have been driving the song more. He needs an intervention by a "choices" coach, or he risks a total fall from grace.

Each week, I like David Cook more and more. I can't even explain it well, but I am entertained. Like Archuleta he has a questionable lower register, but I like the whole package. The haircut helped the image and he's not afraid to smile. His choices are interesting and the singing is solid week to week.

re: American Idol this Week

I can't believe he (David C.) and Kristy are getting away with singing in their comfortable style every single week when they should show they are versatile performers.

Why do you single those two out. They ALL have that problem. Every single one is exactly the same from week to week, mediocre, which is why this season is so bad.

PEACE.

re: American Idol this Week

At least it's not Season 5 all over again. That was the worst season ever. There were no good choices there after Chris Daughtry was voted off.

Was the the Hicks/McMee year? At least Hicks was not run of the mill white-bread. I was not a fan of his, but at least he had a personality.

re: American Idol this Week

I saw the show for the first time last night. I don't get the David Archuleta obsession, everyone kept telling me I had to hear this kid sing and whatnot, then he stood up there and sorta butchered "When You Believe," gave a completely over-the-top performance (and I agree that he just let the backups do all the singing while he stood there and screamed), and then got raves from all the judges and the guy I was seeing it with. Do not get it. He has a great voice but I just don't think he gets any kind of subtext in the songs he sings, he doesn't need voice lessons, he needs an acting coach to help him stop screaming and doing over-the-top emotions and actually realize what the songs can be about.
I enjoyed Carly with her nice smoky voice, and David Cook with a great rock voice.

re: American Idol this Week

We only voted for David Cook, Jason and Syesha.

No Brooke love for us tonight.

re: American Idol this Week

i want Carly to get voted off so someone can rip that smug look off her face. that, and so we won't have to see her ugly husband anymore.

it was funny last night watching Pork Chop try his best not explode into a fit of fairy dust in front of Mariah

re: American Idol this Week

I really like Carly.... and I think the only reason they are so hard on her is cause they know how talented she is and they want to push her.

... and minus the tatoo's on the face her husband is not bad looking
#292

re: American Idol this Week

no i think they are hard on Carly because she thinks she is better than she actually is. that is going to hurt her in the long run.

even when the judges criticize her, she's too busy smirking and looking around too much to focus on the fact that she could really learn from what they are saying.

No, Elliot Yamin was still there. And I still think he is the best male vocalist they have ever had on the show.

re: American Idol this Week

Elliot and Chris were the only good things about Season 5- I can't remember anyone else.

David Cook's performance was really the only one I truly enjoyed last night. Did he make that arrangement or is it another one from another group or performer? If he did create that arrangement, he deserves more kudos and that does make him stand out in comparison to the others. David A has a pretty good voice, but it drives me crazy that you can hear him take such loud breaths every week. I am not sure if this is due to the fact he had paralyzed vocal chords and there is still damage or not. In the very least someone should tell him to move the mike away from his mouth when he needs to take a breath. For me, it takes away from the song when he does that. I think the bottom 3 will be girls, don't really care which ones but would prefer Kristy or Carly to leave.
#295

re: American Idol this Week

He said he did his own arrangement.
I loved his performance.

what's so great about Eliot Yamin? I don't think he's better than any of the guys on the show now. weak.

re: American Idol this Week

Jane, I partially agree with you. It seems that a lot of past runner-ups sound inferior when they perform a few seasons later. I don't know what it is, but I've noticed it a lot the last two seasons.

re: American Idol this Week

yeah, what is it about that?

If the three on the right are at the bottom, I think that's how I called it in the other thread. I hope Jason stays only so I can look at those legs in those tight jeans!
