Back in the day Mariah could wail. After Honey (and the Butterfly) album, everything just got breathy and whispered - that was a real turn off to me. SHe stooped singing and just started ohh-ing and coo-ing.

But "Vision of Love," "Emotions," "Hero" - those are classics.

She always looks like a $2.00 hooker to me. Her "singing" ability is open for debate, as far as I'm concerned. People who can do nothing but runs and riffs, don't appear to be capable of truly singing a song, and sustaining a note. You know, one note, the way a song is written.

Her dresses always look cheap to me.

Here's what they are singing tonight:

Syesha: "Vanishing"
David Cook: "Always Be My Baby"
Carly Smithson: "Without You"
Brooke White: "Hero"
Jason Castro: " I Don't Wanna Cry"
Kristy Lee Cook: "Forever"
David Archuleta: "When You Believe"

I know I'll be in the minority, but I did not like that at all!

My thoughts:

David A. - Good, but a bit boring. We've seen him do it all before.
Syesha - Fine, but again no emotion.
Brooke - Good, but a bit shaky at the middle and end.
Carly - Good, but a bit boring. She still needs to relax.
Kristy - Better than she's been. But still not very good in perspective.
Jason - Good, but, again, we've seen it before. The best he's sounded, though.

David Cook - Easily the best tonight. I love the song and his interpretation was fantastic. No one else came even close to him. Everyone else was kind of boring. He was awesome.

Cookie does it again!

I got all emotional when he did. Knowing what he's going through, it's heartbreaking.

I know there is still plenty of time left, but David Cook is threatening to run away with this.

Yeah, i knew David C would rock it this week. This was probbly the EASIEST week for him. Turning one of Mariah's songs into a rock ballad is so easy

What is he going through?

Jane, his brother has cancer.

He was my favorite tonight, followed by Archuleta.

I'm still not getting all the Archuleta love--he's the same every week to me. And I don't think Kristy was as fabulous as the judges gave her credit for.

Now David Cook...I couldn't love him enough.

Ah, I see, thanks Blue.

I noticed that they made him clean up his act, though. He washed and trimmed his hair and his face looks clean now. Much better!

I think any of the four girls could go home this week. I'd be shocked if any of the guys are in the bottom three.

I'm not a fan of Archuleta, but the girls struggled this week.

I know I'm alone in this, but I love Jason Castro. I don't know why, but I do. Maybe his eyes along with his delivery of a song. "Over The Rainbow" last week was heaven. Izzy would be proud.

Carly is sounding worse and worse as the weeks go by.

I must be the only person who doesn't like David Cook. He just irritates me. Every week he may do a so called original arrangement of a classic song, and it just is the same rocker sound all the time. I can't believe he and Kristy are getting away with singing in their comfortable style every single week when they should show they are versatile performers.

I'm trying to imagine tomorrow's bottom three. I think it should be Syesha definitely, maybe Carly and maybe Jason.

I'd say Carly's definitely in there. I hope Brooke's safe. I do love her. I think the top three are going to be the three boys, but I'd love Brooke to get in there. It better be a David/David showdown.

I know you may not be interested in throwing money at AI but downloading the studio performances are very eye(ear)opening. Jason Castro and Brooke White with their "own sound" sound really great - even better than they do live. David Cook is a force....but after downloading everything he's done I'm struck by how dark all of his performances are and I'm tending to skip some of them. David A. makes us smile from ear to ear when we watch him but his studio performances seem strained, nervous even. We all loved MJ but when we heard his studio stuff he sounded so kareoke. Haven't downloaded the others.
