HOLY CRAP GO DAVID COOK.

Is it just me or does Porkchop get more and more vacant behind the eyes each week?

I liked david cooks version.... however, carly was my favorite
And the judges are wearing phantom masks!!!
yeah carly kicked ass tonight. But yay for Cook also, its nice to see that he can sing like that and do it very well.
Overall, a disappointment.
The only ones that truly shined were Carly (who I never liked before) and David Cook who shocked me by being so good (yet I still want to hear him to Heaven On Their Minds sometime)
OK, it's official, David can tackle any song and any genre. "Music of the Night" was absolutely beautiful.
Jason and Brooke were awful and one of them should definitely get the boot. The others were just ok. This was Syesha's best performance so far. I would need to hear it again, and know I will probably get shot for saying this, but I may like David A.'s arrangement better than the original (I am not a fan of the Phantom of the Opera in general). Someone just needs to teach David A. better breathing techniques, those big gasps for air take away from everything he sings. David Cook is still my favorite, but this was not his best, not even close. Carly needs to thank ALW big time, it would have been a disaster for her to sing "All I ask of you."
Funniest comment all night was Castro, "I didn't know a cat sang that song"

That was funny, East Village. I think that kid is baked 24 hours a day!
What a snooze fest tonight! Never thought I"d say it, but Syesha was the best.

in her own mind yeah, but not in reality. She was 3rd best tonight.

David's a sad boy, IMO. He doesn't strike me as even wanting to be in this competition.
Jane he probably doesn't but he is his dad's puppet. I am glad ALW told him to keep his eyes open, he needed to hear that. Now he needs to learn to get some emotion behind the eyes.
What a hot mess tonight. David Cook actually sang MOTN a half-step higher than written. And it's funny that the two Davids chose songs from TPOTO. Even funnier that David Archuleta chose TOM. I thought he was going to sing WYWSHA.
Brooke was just... sad...
Sesot, that poor kid!
He shouldn't have to learn how to do anything. Obviously he doesn't feel the right emotions for the songs. He doesn't want to be singing them! He should be allowed to stay home and be a normal kid without having to perform like a trained seal so his father can live vicariously. Sick situation and very sad for the kid.

Sooo, a few comments on tonight:
- KJDFKSJF David Cook, why do you constantly amaze me? I was NOT expecting him to sing the song straight up like he did, and the fact that he actually did it just as well as anyone on Broadway would AMAZED me. I mean I knew he was a great singer, but still. Incredible! I won't say it was his best performance ever, but I loved it for the fact that it showed how insanely versatile he is, and proved once and for all to any of the doubters that he is NOT a one trick pony
- Poor Brooke and Jason I enjoy them both greatly, but they just had such trouble this week. I hate to say it but Brooke rightfully should be the one to go. I just wish that she had stayed as good as she started out, because she really was SO good in the beginning of the season. Jason didn't do well, but he's been more or less consistant every other week, so..
-Syesha, dude, she did great!! Musical theater is definitely her forte :) (I could totally see her as a Dynamite girl in Hairspray, for the record)
-Carly was good- really fun. Probably my 3rd fav performance
-Andrew Loyed Webber, way to have actually been quite a good mentor! He's creepy, but he actually gave the contestants rather good advice!
aaand that'll be all :)
Have I mentioned I'm in love with David Cook? yup <3
David Cook was the best by far tonight. Totally rocked it.
I thought this was David Cook's weakest performance by far. Although I'm not wild about the guy, I've enjoyed his past performances. I don't think ALW is his genre at all.
Syesha did the best, vocally and performance wise...but it's too little too late and she'll be in the bottom three with Jason and Brooke...America just doesnt like her.
Carly, David and David did fine, but none were that great. Again, I was pissed at Carly for not blowing me away. I know that's not quite fair, but she didnt even hit the high notes, and I keep feeling like she has it in her and is just not bringing it.
I loved the "acting" class Andrew gave Brooke. I guess she went with shaking and tinkling herself as acting choices.
I agree, my girl Brooke is at her breaking point. It was uncomfortable to watch, like Simon said.
Carly, Cook, and Syesha (shockingly) were great. Jason was boring as usual.
And Archuleta. I just don't get it. He has a nice enough voice, but his signature adult contemporary blandness has put me in an emotional coma.

All three women screwed up at some point - lyrics, timing, or both.
It was interesting that four out of six contestants chose songs originally written for the opposite gender.
Can't they just get rid of the bottom three tonight? Carly screamed the notes she couldn't hit and relied totally on the band and the backup singers to cover her ass.
Jason and Brooke, just lock them up somewhere where we never have to see or hear them again.
I thought David A. was really good last night. He took the song and totally reworked it to suit his strengths and it payed off.
Sayesha had her best night. Wanna bet she ends up in that Ain't Misbehavin' tour with Reuben (if that ever happens).
Cook was fine, but I just can't stand the song. He did pull off the money note, though, which I was cringing about just prior to him hitting it.
I agree that Syesha was the best last night. She needs to show that kinda of personality every week if she wants to stay in the competition.I was bored with David Cook's performance .... Jason Castro( eeeek) love him and those eyes but, it was pretty bad! I love Carly( she is my S.D. girl!) and thought she did well last night. At points I felt like she was pushing a bit hard at points , but for me it kinda worked with the song choice. David A's voice is like velvet but, honestly ,I dont see how the heck they would market him if he did win.
As for Brook, I cant help but love her. I really feel that she is genuine and though she may not have the strongest voice, I could see her doing well after the show.
Overall... I enjoyed last nights show. My choice to go home tonight would have to be Jason Castro=-(
What a train wreck of a week.
Brooke and Castro ... I mean, really? Disaster. A really rough night for both.
The Davids were only OK. Both were a bit boring. Archuleta gave us more of the same, but at least made the song suit what he does. I am surprised so many people liked Cook's MOTN - I thought his voice sounded terrible on everything except the high note in the middle. The final moments with the slide were terrible - and you could see it on his face.
Syesha and Carly were ok (with Carly as the night's highlight IMO), but neither says STAR to me.
Forgot to add that I was pleasantly surprised by how personable, helpful, energetic and positive Andrew Lloyd Webber was. Not at all what I expected. He seemed really interested in working with the contestants.
and Carly should thank him a thousand times over for encouraging her to do "Superstar" instaed of "All I Ask of You."

Bottom two prediction -- Brooke and Castro. I think it's Brooke's time. Without the safety net of her piano she always looks uncomfortable.
As much as I can't stand Archuleta, I actually thought he was OK last night. I really thought he'd do something more predicatble (something from Joseph).
Carly rocked that song. MUCH better choice for her than All I Ask Of You.
And David Cook surprised me with Music of the Night -- very good! (although, like catiesus, I was hoping for "Heaven on Their Minds" from him. It would have been awesome.)
Syesha was good. She may be the third one in the bottom, just based on her track record and the fact that she went first.
