I did see last night. I agree about Brooke, but Jason did a nice, clean job. Was it "out-of-character" for him to sing that song, yes. Was it a mess, no.
I honestly think part of it may have been her song choice that may have turned off a certain number of voters. Not because of the style or her the way she sang it or the music, but because of the lyrics. Maybe?

Regardless of who should have been in the bottom two, Syesha should have been the one going home......several episodes ago. IMO, Carly was the only one who could challenge the Davids.

i think the reason why Carly is gone is because she never ever looks happy while she's singing... none of her facial expressions seem joyous or fun... i honestly think she looks angry and mean when she sings
and the competition has been "rigged" in Carly's favor for quite some time... if anyone reads Vote For The Worst, then you'd know about (at least the speculation about) Carly being a "plant" in this season...
I was not entirely surprised that Brooke was not in the bottom 2 efen though she deserved to be there. I think she did get the sympathy vote, someone does every season. However, i couldn't believe that she and Jason weren't in the bottom 2. Maybe they saved jason so we wouldn't have to suffer through "Memory" again. At this point I think it is pretty much a lock for the final to be a battle of the Davids.
So yeah, anyway, do they get paid in any way? Since they're making zillions for Fox, and this season, also Ford Motors?

That's it?? They're on this show living away from home in LA for 3 months and are shilling national commercials. They have to legally get compensated in some way, according to AFTRA rules, and probably SAG too, since the show is taped on video but the commercials are on film.

I agree with you Blueroses. I wonder if this will be the last season, I know the ratings have significantly dropped this year. The show doesn't have the same spark, or at least not with these finalists.
Rating drop or not, it is still the Number 1 show on television. It will most definitely be back.
I'm glad Carly is gone. I've been bored by her from the start. Although, I would say that this week was her best performance, and Brooke deserved to go. I agree with Paula. You don't start a song over. Yes, I've seen Carol Channing do it, but she frickin' Carol Channing, not some nobody trying to start a career. By this stage in the competition, she should be more prepared. Plus, she says it's the first time she's forgotten her lyrics. That may be true, but I seem to recall her starting a song over earlier in the competition. Anyone else recall it and what the reason was for it? This is definitely tied with Season 3 as the worst season, ever!
David Archuleta has messed up his lyrics twice now and no one has said a single word to him. He needs to go in my opinion. Neither Carly nor Syesha should have been in the bottom 2 this week. They need to change the voting rules to make this crap stop happening. As long as my David Cook is safe I am a happy camper though lol. Oh and as for Jason, in my opinion he is like a Jim Croce or Harry Chapen type and some people like that. I just think he is as funny as hell and thats why I like him around!
Who gives a crap about Carly? She's not even an American! I think the very least an American Idol should be, is American! Now let's get rid of duller-than-dishwater, trach-tube-breath-sounding David Archuleta!
Carly wasnt' my favorite, but she was loads better than Jason or even Brooke...who I loved at first.
Of course, my wish that David A be this season's "SHOCKING" elimination ain't gonna happen, so I think I'm giving up on the show. I'll just watch Cook the next day online. Archuleta's got this puppy wrapped up.
