Yay! But you haven't friended me yet.
It might be answered earlier in this thread, but do we know it's definitely just ALW songs rather than just Broadway in general?
etf: my question mark key is not working well today

hm, I am almost positive its solely ALW songs.
from the AI site:
With Kristy Lee gone, the Idols turn their attention to the legendary music of Andrew Lloyd Webber. Don't miss the action Tuesday 8/7c!
Thank you, mateo.
He's a word nerd and I love that.
If it is ALW only.. I picture Carly singing " A PHARAOH STORY" from Joseph
you're welcome.
Someone better do "Any Dream Will Do" from Technicolor Dreamcoat... That is all I have to say.
I just downloaded David Cook's "Always Be My Baby." Love.
I bet someone will do "I Don't Know How To Love Him."
Probably, seeing as that's the most recognizable of ALW's songs.
Is this the first time they do a whole ALW show? I remember someone in the past doing a pretty pathetic Buenos Aires...? Maybe that was just a general Broadway theme tho.
I don't think anyone has done Buenos Aires on American Idol, but someone attempted it on that Grease reality show when ALW was the guest.
I am so with you Mateo, I said the same thing David Cook should do "Superstar". I can see Brooke try "I don't know how to love him" and Crly or Syesha attempt Memory or something from Evita. No clue what Jason might do. I wonder how many of them are familiar with ALW beyond Phantom of the Opera? In the past I have not enjoyed Broadway week on AI, the song choices, arrangements, and overall performances were typically bad/boring. Considering this is one of the most boring seasons already, I don't have much faith it will be any better.
Get ready, the group number is Jellicle Cats. WITH choreography.
Set the DVR NOW.

So can we discuss how David C's studio recording of Always Be My Baby has been on repeat on my ipod ALL morning??
GAH, it is so GORGEOUS.
I swear, leave it to David to take a song that I do not even really like the original version of and make it the most gorgeous, soothing thing ever <3
He needs to win this thing. He's probably, over all, the most talented contestant the show has EVER had. He's a liiittle bit cocky about it sometimes, sure, but that doesn't take away from the fact that it's true. He creates/chooses the BEST arrangments of songs that makes them completely unique and fitted to his voice. So that shows that, along with being quite possibly the strongest singer, he's also an amazing musician, which is something not even the incredible Carrie Underwood necessarily is.
Brooke's a very good musician as well, but her voice, though extremely pretty and singer/songwriter-esque, is not the strongest like David's is.
And Carly has the second strongest voice, but the arrangments she chooses can be quite iffy sometimes.
have I mentioned I am loving this season? :)
*sigh* if only Michael were still in, it would be pretty much perfect! I wanted the final 6 to be Jason, David A, Brooke, Michael, Carly, and David C (roughly in that order, though it might have been subject to change). But still, as long as Syesha goes next week, it'll be pretty darn great :)
ok, I totally just interupted the ALW discussion- continue! lol
I hope David Cook DOESN'T win. I hope he comes in second.
With a different label, he'll be able to do his own stuff.

^that is VERY very true.
yes, he needs to come in second. Purely because then he wont be tied down to a stupid maintream label that will force him to make below-par music
Carly can win. She's got an amazing voice but she doesn't seem to have the great musical experience that David and Brooke do, so she'd actually benifit more from having a mainstream label to help her out :)
who wants to bet Syesha is gonna do "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from JCSuperstar? that, or "Memory".
Here's my question about Carly:
Is the exposure enough to make her successful? Her first studio album didn't do so hot.
Has anyone else noticed the boy/girl pattern of people leaving? Was that intentional? If so, my bets:
Jason
Brooke
David A.
Syesha
David Cook and Carly
I don't think Carly will be in the final 2, unless she does something amazing the rest of the season. My guess as of now it will be a battle of the Davids. I agree with Nitsua that david Cook although he is clearly the most talented this season, he will be better off in second or third. They always have some crappy, sappy finale song that the finalists must sing. It typically strongly favors one of the performers. I doubt they will have a song with a more rock edge. I don't know if they would allow David Cook to make a different arrangement of the final song.

I... still really love Brooke. Like, maybe even more than Carly and David A. But I'm waiting for her to pull out something really really great again like she did in the beginning. Basically she was awesome in the beginning of the season (namely the last two semifinals weeks with You're So Vain and Love Is a Battlefield and then in Lennon/McCartney week with Let It Be) and she's had some trouble ever since. But I think that if from here on out she can get back to making really great song choices and arrangments like she had done, she could be way more a front runner than people expect.
I just really love her laid back, more acoustic singer/songwriter Carly Simon-esque style :) I think it's something that we havn't really seen much of on Idol before. Plus, she records really well. She sounds soo pretty in all her recordings.
So yeah, IF she could make a comeback, I'd love to see a Brooke/David C finale (with... I guess Brook winning? though again, I would actually like to see Carly in the finale simply because I'd care the least about her being tied down to a mainstream record deal). But a battle of the Davids could be cool too! Either way, just as long as David C is there and preferably comes in 2nd :)
If Brooke DOESN'T do "I Don't Know How to Love Him" I'll be shocked.
The stoner dred boy, sorry forgetting his name, I'm sure will do "Any Dream Will Do".
Molly O'Poverty, sorry Carly, will likely do Memory and complain she's never heard it before, I'm sure. I can't stand her. Okay voice but what a stuck up -----! "We're all blackbirds in this inductry wounded", OH COME ON!
Actually, this is my least favorite Idol season next to the Taylor Hicks year.
No, Carly is going to sing "As If We Never Said Goodbye"...right before they kick her ass off the show.
