I think after last nights Paula "slip up" it's somewhat obvious that the judges are told who to lean to or favor to influence the outcome of the results. Did anyone notice when Paula was talking to Syesha she called her Brooke?(watched my dvr twice to make sure I wasn't hearing things)

Last night was ok (I love Neil Diamond)
Jason's first song was good his second one was boring

David C is the only one who knows how to arrange a song and I am glad he picked obscure songs

Brooke's first song was dreadful, forced, and awful. her second was ok and the change in lyric from NY to Arizona made no sense because "caught between 2 shores" I am pretty sure that Arizona is not on a coastline

David A is a robot. I hated him chosing those songs (although I think daddy was the one to pick them). I am sick of him botching up songs and being told he is awesome

Syesha loved Hello and the second song. I think she was the most solid tonight but sadly she will go because she doesn't have a strong 11 year old fan base and is not votefortheworsts canidate

What makes you think he'd have any more artistic freedom? The winners and runner-ups are contractually obligated and do what they're told. Period.

Ok, I guess I believe this now, as I've heard it from quite a few people at this point. I just wasn't sure, so I was kind of still assuming for now that the runner up isn't contractually obligated. But now I've heard it from enough people, I figure it probably is in fact true.

So in that case... I guess what I'd really most prefer is if he was 4th or 3rd then, again, simply to ensure artistic freedom. But I know for sure that I won't be able to bring myself to actually not vote for him when it comes down to it haha. Because as much as he deserves not to be tied down, I want him on the show as long as possible :P

So yeah, all things considered I suppose I'm all for him winning then! There's no doubt he's by FAR the most talented person this season (and maybe over all the most talented person the show has ever had, considering his excellent musicianship), so... yeah. Woota for David Cook!! :P

I don't need a life that's normal. That's way too far away. But something next to normal would be okay. Something next to normal is what I'd like to try. Close enough to normal to get by.

I was told the rule was that it was just the winner that get's the contract for sure, and the others in the top 10 have to wait untill after the " idol " had come out with thier albumn to come out with thiers

According to Dialidol brooke is the likely victim this week (deservedly) with Jason and Pork Chop also in danger. Syesha seems to be on top this week.

I attributed Paula's slip to the fact that the judges have just seen them sing the songs in the dress rehearsals. She probably took some notes based on THAT performance and got confused by the new format. I was just surprised it took someone so long to correct her. Simon was particularly quiet in a moment that could have given him ample opportunity to tease her.

He was making faces in the background though.

The judges do watch the dress rehearsal. My guess based on last night is they do pretty much judge them based on that unless something dramatic changes in the live performance. The producers probably do influence the judges after the dress rehearsal in the direction they would like it to go. I wonder if Simon/writers create some of his remarks in advance too. Paula has been calling a local Atlanta radio station on Thursdays each week and she accidentally called today. She apologized for calling th wrong day and said she will call again in the morning. While on the phone the djs asked her about last night this is what she said:She says she was surprised by the last minute switch in judging procedures. Paula the said, "I am feverishly trying to write notes for every performance." And when host Ryan Seacrest asked the judges to sum up the performances, Paula claims that she was trying organize her notes, saying, "I was trying to give my critique for Jason Castro, and scribbled Jason's name, and that was David Cook's! ... We all just screwed up everything." She added with a laugh: "This is live television. This is fun!"

She tried to cover up lsat night and say the second song remarks were for David Cook, but a few seconds later she said he was great. Her notes were obviously for Jason on both of his songs. The DJs asked her if she is still in pain and taking pain meds from a plane accident she was in at some point. She said yes she still has quite a bit of pain in her neck at times, but she does not take any meds.

I don't think they will fire Paula, she brings a lot of media attention to the show and is part of the reason some people watch. You hear people talk about her and Simon, rarely Randy. I think she will be around as long as the show is.

As for th bottom 2, I think it will be Syesha and Jason. I don't think Syesha should be there, but based on the past few weeks, she probably will be. Simon even made a comment about her being in trouble. I hope Jason goes he is so boring.

This season has been so bad I am hoping Jason or Brook are the final two.

"David A. is the quintessential American idol?

he's mediocre at best. If he wasn't a "pretty" 17 year old boy he'd have been eliminated a while ago."

Exactly. Young, Cute and Mediocre. What could be more American Idol than that? He's a shoe in!

Archuleta managed to make Neil Diamond lamer than Neil Diamond.

Actually, I like Neil..he's much hipper than David A.

Elimination shows are such a waste of time. Cut the car commercial. Cut the phone calls. Give us the performance by the guest and the elimination. It can easily be a half hour long.

Brooke's final performance was cut off on my FOX affiliate with Merv Griffin's Crosswords. Weird! That's not even the right channel; FOX News is on at 10.

What rumors is Simon refering too about Paula? Other than she's on some type of drugs or medication?!?!?!

I don't get that either. I thought Jason would have been there last week and this week. Little girls must be voting for him for his looks not talent.

Also, when Jason was first and safe I was thinking something might be up.

Then they brought David Cook out third, and I was thinking that this was the catch because he was third and had to be in the bottom 2, so that they could bring the other 2 out.

Luckily for him, it didn't turn out that way.
