Posted: 12/21/09 at 12:24pmI was reading on AOL yesterday that one of the husbands is going to be in a wheelchair and end up being a real dictator around the house. Their guess is Orson and I can see how that makes sense. Orson is probably injured and using Bree's guilt to make her fetch and carry for him. I can really envision that happening more with his character than any of the others. Carlos was blind and gpt used to coping so while being wheelchair bound would be sad for him I can't see him taking it to a dark place. Nor can I see Tom or Mike doing that either.

I can totally see Tom doing that. Nearly all the men on the show have turned into annoying bitches for lack of anything creative to do with them. All except Mike, who had the whole mystery thing going on and has been mostly a dud ever since. The car crash thing with him and Julie turned into huge pile of nothing.

Yeah, but Lynette would only let him get away with it for so long. And I'm pretty sure I saw Tom in one of the previews for the episode set to air on January 3.

So Karl's a goner.
I wonder if he "left" his son to Susan and Mike. His ex-wife didn't want the boy and left him with Karl. Wonder where he's at now.

Oh, please. If anyone was worried that DH hadn't jumped the shark, all they needed to do was watch last night's episode.
I really don't know if I can make it through the rest of the season.
I CRINGED during the entire "Fat Susan" storyline. Incredibly offensive, particularly when she was throwing herself at Mike. And, also, anyone notice that "fat" Susan is no fatter than Carlos? Double-standard alert.
You can't tell me that Gaby's storyline was anything but an embarrassment, and the actress playing her daughter was abhorrent. The 20-something version of her daughter was good, but that section was so GREY GARDENS I couldn't stop laughing so I'm not even sure what went on during the scene, though I'm sure it will never be referenced again so what difference does it make?
So many plot-holes it wasn't even funny... and we can't even get Edie in flashbacks? ::sigh::
SUCH disappointments all around. And a lot of the aging was LAUGHABLY bad. Is it that difficult to get the makeup artist who did the last SIX FEET UNDER? That is the only old-age make-up I have seen recently that worked well.
So, I take it that Marc Cherry is never writing another episode himself? He hasn't in years and didn't last night. And it shows. How it shows...

Heavier Susan kind of looked like Corine. Teri Hatcher really could use some meat on her bones.
This episode was ridiculous. I was just happy to have some new tv last night, even if it was this and Brothers and Sisters, two of the worst shows on television.

Posted: 1/4/10 at 2:46pmWhere is Corine? I hope she's ok and gets some great interviews with Sondheim about 'NIGHT MUSIC and maybe she'll even get the real story about the Trevor Nunn FOLLIES out of him.

Yes, Felicity Huffman was quite good but she has been given such p*ss-poor material for the last few seasons that I think it seemed much better than it was just since we're used to such nonsensical, cloying, dreck from her character. I still think they are making a major mistake with her giving birth to any more Scavo spawn, but whatever. If she hadn't already won once, somewhat undeservedly, I would agree that she should be recognized for her work.
Huffman is an incredible actress and I always feel bad for her and the crappy material she is lumped with. Of course she gets the best storyline in the two WORST episodes ever. I just hate her character so much. I'm sure she loves playing the two sides of the character, cloying or unlikeable, as would any actress worth her salt. I just wish they would give her material to let her shine, like she did in MAGNOLIA and TRANSAMERICA.

I thought Lynette's flash forward was the only good part about the episode. I am a little sensitive to the subject, though. I loved the sandwich scene. I think it could have been more realistic and showed Lynette and Tom divorced, as 75% of couples with a special needs child do. The whole "graduating from law school" thing was a bit much. I guess it was a fantasy, so that is forgivable.
The rest was crap.

So basically we learnt that Mike is shallow and wouldn't be with Susan if she were 'fat'?
Lynette and Bree's flash-forward's were the only necessary ones.
Susan being an emotional eater if she'd stayed with Carl? Compared to the issues Lynette was dealing with just shows up what an idiotic character Susan is.
Gaby's was daft too, I mean it's almost as if they left that to the last minute and threw it in to give her character something to do. It wasn't funny, touching, relevant or progressing the story. Surly it would have made more sense (albeit a bit predictable) if Gaby had a flash-forward of forcing her daughter into modelling or at least the glamourous side of showbiz, living through her etc.?
Plus, anyone notice that Lynette didn't age between then and the sandwich scene (at least 10 years) and upon the disabled kid's graduation looked maybe 10 years older (when in reality it would have been 20+), but Gaby turned into a full on white haired banshee when her kid was in her twenties...and she's younger than Lynette...?
I do like the show, but this 'dramatic' plane crash and everything around it has been pretty crap. The deaths/paralysing were so predictable. The tornado arc owns this, and that wasn't even that great.

At least when Friends did "The One That Could Have Been" Chandler loved Monica even though she was fat. To be fair, though, Susan was not only fat, but married, so I don't know if it's fair to say that Mike was being shallow.
Lynette's story was only necessary in that they had to figure out someway to backtrack her away from the way she did not want these kids (and because abortion doesn't exist apparently in Fairview).

You know, I thought they were at first, because their first shots looked like they were sitting at different places. But then it showed them both together with I'm guessing Penny in between them.
