Phyllis RS,
I don't think the creators are trying to convince us that Betty or Charlie or the BEST Henry can do, it's that they're his personal best. They're who he picks, despite the fact that neither are conventionally gorgeous. He sees Betty as beautiful and picks her above several other women who would throw themselves at him. To say that they're tryiing to convince us that they're the bst he can do, slightly misses the point of the show, in my book.

that episode seemed a little rushed (i guess they were trying to get it written before the strike deadline), but its so nice to check in with these characters again! i've missed 'em.
Annie Potts, always a treat.
nice to see Cliff still exists!
oh, i feel dread about Willy & Mark using Christina as the surrogate...especially coz i dont trust Stuart!
as corny as it was, i got a little teary when Betty came out on the catwalk.
& i'm sad that Justin is hanging with such losers...& that his little Broadway friend is trying to fit in with them.

There were some great lines tonight, but of course I can't remember any of them right now!
Yeah, I don't think Stuart's on the up and up either.

I love that B-Monster Movie music that accompanies the Wilhelmina scenes lately. Vanessa Williams just gets better each week.

What a great episode; it is why the writer strike must end. I don't want reruns!.
I'm starting to crush on Gio too.

I thought the "poison perfume" storyline was a WEE bit of a stretch, but it did allow America to show off some beautiful comic skills that we had not yet seen.

Agreed. I just remember its origins are rooted in telenovela, so that allows me to just sit back and take it all in, without worrying about how "real" any of it is. Of course the perfume thing was contrived, but maybe now that means will be getting a lot more of Judith Light!

I've LAWAYS had a crush on Gio.
It started back when he was on 6 Feet Under.
He's a cutie.

I agree with everyone about the over-sized and bright style and look of the show, but I think the show also works because the situations are somewhat grounded in reality. Poison perfume pushed it for me.
But I still love the show!

I hope that strike is resolved. I loved the episode. Too bad they humanized Marc and Amanda. Temporarily...

So wait, Vanessa Williams buying off Christina's uterus so she can inseminate it with her dead ex-fiance's sperm that she stole from his cadaver in order to gain the empire that she lost when Bradford realized she had been cheating on him with her bodyguard does not push people, but poisoned perfume does????
Having grown up watching telenovelas in South America, I just find it so funny when this outrageous things happen in UGLY BETTY, you can tell that they are mocking telenovelas while using them as a storytelling method. I LOVE IT!!!
America Ferrara is brilliant, period.
I'm so glad that we're getting to see more of Judith Light now.
I miss Marc and Amanda together at Mode.
What's sad is that this season we were supposed to get the musical episode but with the strike I doubt we will

I think America might have earned her second Emmy with that one episode alone.
