The sudden impact of a voice ringing out is annoying at home and problematic at work. I'm not inclined to trade in useful little dings and alerts in order to bypass the ads. Which leaves me inclined to just stay away from BWW.
Although that may be good news to some, it is counter-productive from marketing and site traffic perspectives.
I know papa started a similar thread a few days ago, but it bears repeating.
I'll march with you on this one. I had been lucky enough to avoid them, but now that I've had the joy of experiencing them, I concur!
Damn it. I posted the message and immediately got hit with another one. It's REALLY irritating.

i think they wouldnt be so bad if people from the BWW community were recording the ads.
i mean, if i heard Erika Amato comin out of a banner ad, i'd click it!
Hate these ads SO.MUCH.

Iflit and I haven't been in such agreement since CAROLINE, OR CHANGE.
They are quite annoying, and I for one would not miss them at all.
I mean how many free nanos do I really need?

The "buzzing" ad is quite annoying. What is the point? I'm certainly not going to click on an ad that intrusive and it only makes me not want to come back to this site.
Please tell me they are TEMPORARY!
The worst is when I'm listening to some beautiful showtune, with tears welling up in my eyes.
And I here "WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT" or "Congratulations"
Seriously pisses me off.
I think we need a petition. I can't stand these ads.

For me, I've only gotten the apple i-phone and the ipods ad 30 times. I'm afraid of the beeping one or what!

i'm the only in it beacuse it's new and i only know 2 bww-ers on facebook
Now the Nano ad in the headline box and the iPhone or whatever the hell it is in the side box are competing with each other - actually talking over each other.
What fun!

I have yet to experience these Nano and iPhone ads, thank goodness. I do get those completely terrifying emoticon ones, though. Your mouse accidentally goes over it, and all of a sudden, some grimacing little yellow face screams "OH MY GOD!" at you. Unpleasant.
When we've had these threads before, there have been posters who have defended the ads, which of course diffuses the campaign. Let's see if any are still defending them.

Apparently I'm the only one who hasnt had any kind of run in with these audio ads... granted, I usually have my speakers off at work, but they're always on at home and still, nothing.
If in Heaven you don't excel, you can always party down in hell...
Eh, I've already started a petition against them, but, of course, it was deleted.
Hate them. I get them too often, too.
They scare the &*$% out of me every time.

I have my speaker sound off so it's not an issue here.
I believe if you go into the sound device control features of your computer you can alter what on your computer is able to transmit sounds to your speakers. If only your CD player, for example, can use the speakers, the website sound won't be able to squawk.
Try "Sounds and Audio Devices" on the Control Panel. It might be there you can do it.
I frequently use a site that requires sound. I dislike being put in the position of having to choose. This feels quite a bit like all the phone solicitations back in the day before the Do Not Call list restored order to dinnertime.

I heard it for the first time tonight and it scared me.
It is especially bad for me tonight, since I hear TWO ADS AT THE SAME TIME!! One is across the top of the screen and the other is on the side. Makes my head explode.
There is nothing more unpleasant than Leontyne Price's "Un bel di" being drowned out by the promise of free iPhones...
