At this point in the game it is generally in people's best interest to leave the people with bigger targets on their backs in the game. Matt wants Brendon and Rachel in the jury house, and keeping them safe this week is way advantageous to him.

Well, Matt is playing a smart game. He didn't nominate Rachel or Brendon. I think he is leaving them for someone else, insuring he has their loyalty. And he knows that Kathy voted him out. But I am scratching my head over Andrew. Is he truly a pawn?
Rachel or Brendon had better win the veto competition or they will go up -- and go home. THIS could be the true genius of Matt's choice.
I am wary of ANY player that professes to be brilliant -- particularly this early in the game.
I do think Andrew is a pawn, but Matt considers him expendable, so it wouldn't matter if he went home. I like Kathy and Andrew and don't really want to see either of them leave. If Matt's goal is to backdoor Rachel or Brendon, I hope it's Brendon. I doubt it, though. The sooner Matt is out, the better. He's trying to be the new Mike Boogie, though God knows why.
Why have I not been on BWW that much this BB season? This thread makes BB so much better! Mister Matt's post are better than the episodes!
^^ LOL That's true!
Andrew is cracking me up. I loved when he vacuumed around Rachel and Brendan. And when he said surfing wasn't a Jew sport. I hope he doesn't go this week.
Looks like the two hour finale thing has caught on. 2 hour Big Brother finale is on September 15. Ratings have been very strong this year

I almost forgot the highlight of last week's eviction! That one brief moment before the live vote and Julie briefly touches on each nominee. When she talks about Monet, they go to a close-up of her sitting in the chair before the house are told they are back with Julie and Monet is trying to fix her contact lens in her left eye making all these hilariously crazy faces not knowing it was during her big close up before she's evicted from the house. I watched that sh*t FOUR. TIMES. I could not stop laughing and rolling around. The way she was acting in the house, it was just so...fitting.

Yes, I agree about MONET and her Crazy faces, too funny! Andrew is growing on me, he is very funny...esp what he was doing to Rachel & Brendon, hilarious...hope he stays around.

After last night's episode, I really feel there isn't a brain among them. What was ANDREW's Speech all about? Did he really think that would work! what a dope! ENZO was the highlight, when he saw ANDREW praying outside the HOH,and said something like he didn't know Jews wore Ninja costumes when they prayed! And Lance agreeing...too funny! And during the POV contest, when ENZO said "EWES guys are both tied",he was right out of MY COUSIN VINNY ! LMAO
I forgot to DVR:
Who won POV?
Actually, it was Lane that made the Ninja comment. Enzo called it "Kosher TV". Lane made a lot of weird redneck comments throughout the episode.
Did anyone fall for Andrew's speech except Rachel? Perhaps Kristen, because I believe she rarely pays attention. She reminds me of the stupid-ass cheerleader on Glee. She even looks a little like her. Now, I get Andrew's plan and it wasn't a bad one, but the "speech" should never have been a part of it. Britney's reaction was hilarious as usual. If she weren't siding with the Tool Brigade, I'd like her more. She has to know that helping Rachel and Brendon would put her further in the game than Tool Brigade would with their little clubhouse and it's "NO GIRLS ALLOWED" sign. Blech! If Andrew is on the outs, he needs to expose what he knows about Hayden and Kristen's little showmance on the side. I don't think Enzo, Lane and Matt-the-Mensabator would be too happy about it.
Highlight of the episode was watching Matt and the Tool Brigade's plans face the worst case scenario YET AGAIN. Matt is trying so hard to be this MASTER MANIPULATOR and come up with elaborate schemes for a plan that requires nothing elaborate. Everyone knows you want to get out Rachel and Brendon. In order to guarantee on of them goes home, you put them both up for eviction. That's it. By NOT putting them both on the block, there is always the chance that one of them will win POV. And if they already know they are targets, why the ruse and the backdoor plan? STUPID STUPID STUPID I'm glad his plan was foiled and was positively giddy that Matt looked like the biggest idiot, especially to the rest of the Tool Brigade. The only person who looked worse was Andrew. Hopefully, this means Kathy will be safe for a couple more weeks. I like her. I liked Andrew until he made that dumb move. I still think he's cute. Loved those shorts he wore during the surfboard challenge. Hee!

Right Mister Matt, thanks for the clarification on who said what, thought it was just too funny.-knew I could count on you! But you see how I just am watching but not watching this show...just too boring this year. Andrew needs to expose the TOOL BRIGADE and Hayden/Kristen.I would like to see him stay. It just boggles the mind that not one of these people have figured out the TOOL BRIGADE yet? I mean you do see them sitting around, talking together all the the time...come on Brendon, use your smarts, take a closer look at what's going on around you instead of playing hide your tongue down Rachel's throat! She is going to be your downfall! Yeah, Matt kills me, trying to be the BRAINS and making stupid game choices.
I know this is a dumb question, but can someone explain what exactly backdooring is and how it's supposed to work? I don't really understand it.
"Backdooring" is when someone is put on the block as a replacement nominee once the Veto is used in order to blindside them with an eviction.
In non-Big Brother terms it can refer to sodomy. Where Ragan and Rachel are concerned, it means both. Sort of like "aloha".
Mister Matt, thanks for the explanation. I'm not sure I understand why that is better strategy than just nominating that person in the first place. Assuming you can put them up as a replacement nominee doesn't always pan out, as happened this week. If you nominate them right away, then they are definitely on the chopping block.
Sorry to be so dense -- I haven't watched the show very much before this season so don't really know the strategies very well.
Backdooring is generally used strategically after the Veto is won and before the Veto ceremony. One of the most popular strategies is to convince someone they are a "pawn" and will be put up as a replacement nominee just to fill the seat because the other person is still the main target, but the pawn is actually the real target being backdoored. This also happens a lot when someone starts creating a lot of drama after the Veto competition (Annie).
mikem, it was more effective in earlier seasons, when people could directly pick who was able to compete in the veto competition with them. So, if the house really wanted to get rid of somebody, the HOH could nominate two pawns, who could then guarantee that either them or their partners (or the HOH or his/her partner, if necessary) could use the veto to take one of them off and put up the true target. That way, the person went home without ever getting the chance to defend themselves in a veto competition.
Nakomis in whatever her season was the first to really engineer this to get rid of someone really unpleasant who had a penchant for winning veto competitions.
I haven't watched in several years, but I think the veto players are more random now(?), so it would be a more risky strategy.
looks like we've got a twist coming tonight, per an interview with the producers: http://bit.ly/c7jB3j

Thanks for the heads up--they need to do something to stir this up--
I love all the comments. They sound a lot like what we're saying over here.
Wow - s*** blew up tonight!
Andrew = Dolt. Talk about not knowing when to keep your mouth shut. How could one person make so many bad moves?
