This is for YOU, CQ:
"Big D":
You're from Big D
I can guess
By the way you draw!
And the way you dress
You're from Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D little a, double l-a-s
And that spell Dallas
My darlin', darlin' Dallas
Don't it give you pleasure to confess
That you're from Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a-s
And that spell Dallas
Where ev'ry home's a palace
Cause the settlers settle for no less
Hooray for Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a-s
You're from Big D
I can guess
By the way you draw!
And the way you dress
You're from Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D little a, double l-a-s
And there's oil all over your address
Back home in Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a-s
And that spells Dallas
I mean it with no malice
But the rest of Texas looks a mess!
When you're from Big D
My, oh Yes
I mean Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a
Big D, little a double l-a-s
Big D, Big D
Talkin' 'bout big D, big D
Oil! Oil! Oil! Cattle! Cattle! Cattle!
My, oh Dallas, Dallas, Dallas, Dallas!
Big D! Little A double L-A-S!
And that spells Dallas
My darlin', darlin' Dallas
Don't it give you pleasure to confess
That you're from big D
My, oh yes
I mean
Big D
Little A, Double L-A
Big D
Little A, double-A
Big D, little A, double L-A-S!

Yes, there's a musical number about Dallas. It's from THE MOST HAPPY FELLA, it's called "Big D". It was done, beautifully, by Julie Andrews and Carol Burnett on the old Gary Moore Show, and again, on their special, JULIE AND CAROL AT CARNEGIE HALL.
thats so cool!
Feodor, I LOVE the recording of Julie & Carol at Carnegie Hall--especially the eerie Sound of Music spoof where Julie plays a parody of the Maria von Trapp role that she would actually portray for real three years later.
yeah m_e! i've lived here all me life. so glad you like casa! i've done many a production for them, including a few at bass hall, which is always a thrill. my dad lived sometimes in dallas and sometimes in austin, so i'm a bit familiar with some of what the big d has to offer. i did so love the shows at fair park! these days i take advantage of the shopping, though. that city does have some nice stores! highland park, the west village, and good ol' neimans at the galaria. however, we've got the kimbal so ha
I would NEVER compare and contrast Dallas and Fort Worth, feinstein. I think BOTH cities have good things to offer.
Its just fortunate that Metroplex residents can sample the pleasures of BOTH!
you're right. is there any other place that has two such great but different cities right next to eachother? go texas (sort of. i'm still trying to get outa here, but i'll always apreciate my home.)
Well, I moved to Dallas in '86, and I NEVER want to leave!
so you're a north-eastern who loves liveing the southwest, and i'm a southwestern who would love to live in the northeast! haha. seriously, how can you stand the summers? even with a pool, it's too darn hot! and it snowed on easter... i mean, the weather could just try to be a little more predictable and considerite, don't you think?
I went to school in Boston. One year, we had snow on the ground from October to April.
Personaly, Feinstein, I'd take July and August in the Metroplex over crud like THAT any time!
lol! see, i loooove snow! we had a good three or four inches here in december, and the whole town freaked out! it's always a thrill. where'd you go to school in boston? they have so many good schools. i considered a few of them, but then i thought, i'd never want to be so far away from nyc! even bryn mawr would be pushing it. anyway i'm deviating from the topic- i <3 snow! i think we just dislike whatever conditions we're born in, i don't know. anyway the metroplex is happy to have such a cool cat in its mist. rock on, m_e!
I went to Boston University's College of Liberal Arts. My major was American Studies and I DESPISE snow.
I LOATHE to BE in it, DRIVE in it, or SHOVEL it!!!
the only thing that i remember of "dallas" is victoria principal.
And she's QUITE the thing to remember, Marquise!

I've lived in Dallas my whole life (not long) and it's quite a swell little town...well, big..but whatever. Mary_Ethel, have you ever had Peggy Sue BBQ? Ah, it's so good!
I must admit that I am not fond of Dallas as a city. I would much prefer to live near a beach or at least in a blue state.
With that said, I have a good life here - a wonderful job at an amazing church, an incredible family of choice, and the opportunity to do challenging and entertaining theater.
Marquise, you made me flash back to SueEllen Ewing teetering down the staircase with a big highball glass in hand... Ah, that's the life!
DBP - it sounds like you have things pretty good, but I do have to say that living in a blue state is a nice thing...
BT, I do have a very good life here. As for the blue state, well, Dallas County came very close to going to for Kerry in the last election and actually elected a Latina lesbian as sheriff!
