Kristin's personal beliefs are just that. I am gay. And I enjoy watching the 700 Club for a good laugh from time to time. And some of my closest friends are Evangelical Christians...and they accept me for who I am...and they disagree (and agree) with parts of the 700 Club. So I imagine that Krisitn could be the sam ewya.

must admit it is a little creepy that she's doing the 700 club! i am a little saddened by that. i would guess that most of kristen's fans would not agree with a lot of the hatred that pat robertson spews.

Omgosh, I can't believe some of the mentalities people have. Just because she goes on this show doesn't mean that she advocates and believes in it. And don't criticize her for being a hypocrite because the truth is, everyone has done something hypocritical in life, whether it is something big or small.

Like someone said earlier, maybe her appearance can bring about some change and open peoples' hearts to the gay community. It's a slim chance of that happening but you never know, it's a possiblity.

by making an appearance on the 700 Club -- whether she likes it or not, Chenowith is showing support for the program, it's viewers, and the intolerance they preach.

Perhaps she could try selling her album on a KKK public access show? Would that be okay with you? Maybe she could be the musical guest at a lynching!!! ("but she's just trying to market her cd!") BULL.

It was mentioned that she is desperate and that's why she is on this show. Um...I would not call her desperate!!! A Tony, a hit B'way show, a stint on West Wing, a movie due out along with concerts and future projects. She doesn't sound desperate to me!

Middy, I am no fan of either Robertson nor the 700 Club. Don't misunderstand me. I just don't condemn her for publicizing her cd where it needs to be publicized, and perhaps, like I said, opening some minds - which she can't do if no one in that community knows her. Let them fall in love with her music, and then perhaps listen to her message of tolerance and acceptance.

Some of my closest friends on and off this board are Christians and love and accept me anyway. It IS possible. If Chenoweth can promote that, more power to her.

It occurs to me that we get awfully wrapped up in segregatimg ourselves - us vs them. We will never understand each other and gain mutual respect (even while holding different views) if we don't cross those lines sometimes.

Ok, Chenoweth is a uber-right wing conservative who preaches intolerance because she appears on the show...but then she also is an uber-left wing liberal because she's on the left-wing slanted drama series, "The WEst Wing." She also has appeard on the Rosie O'Donnell show, so that supports her left-wingedness also. Then she's also a non-talented chipmunk voiced blonde whore who isn't even good enough to live as Al Dente keeps bringing up on EVERY thread that has any mention of Chenoweth.

Man she's one conflicted person.

I don't really feel one way or the other about Kristen Chenoweth, but I think some of the posters defending her on this thread are missing the point. What's offensive is not that she recorded a Christian album or that she went on a Christian talk show to promote...what's offensive (to me, anyway) is that it's PAT ROBERTSON! The man is a monster! We aren't talking about some local yokel preacher with his own cable access show; the 700 Club is a huge source of revenue for Robertson. Robertson has never made any secret of his Right-Wing political leanings and has never been shy about throwing his money (and political influence) behind the most fanatical causes imaginable.

I am really quite amazed that as a society, we spend so much time trying to get rid of the labeling that exists and are working to become more friendly to people of all different religions, orientations and colors, but yet we still seem to hate anyone who strays from the path we consider to be the right path.

I am Roman Catholic. I go to church. I taught Sunday School and was the music director at vacation Bible School.
By the standards that have been discussed on this thread, I should not even be posting on this board. I should be locked up in my room, reading my bible, combing my blonde hair and spouting off about my hatred for gays and lesbians and everyone who is different and non-Catholic. I wouldn't, God-Forbid, be posting on a Broadway Message Board, b/c of the amount of liberal homosexuals who post here. I, apparently do not fit in.

But wait a minute, this isn't the case. I do post, quite frequently, on a Broadway Message Board. PLUS (and this is severely scandalous) I have gay friends!! Not only one, but a bunch of them. I am laden with homosexual buddies.

I find this thread to be an attack on me, not on gays. Leave Kristin alone. Why can't she have her own viewpoints and feelings? Why does everyone have to be the same? Oh wait, thats right, we are supposed to be different.

PalJoey, I thought the argument was about if Chenoweth appears on the show, then she is indirecty or directy advocating what the show preaches. I thought that was the biggest reason why Chenoweth appearing on the 700 Club was so dissapointing for many. I was just saying that if Chenoweth advocates the ideas on every show she was in, then she'd be one conflicted person.

Rath--then how could you defend someone who supports their views? And if she doesn't support them, she would've declined an appearance. She danced with the devil as far as i'm concerned. Let her career go the same path as Donna Summer's infamous "God created Adam and Eve, not Adam and Steve." And Donna Summer DID say it, and suffered the consequences. Now she has her gay fans back after apologizing. Kristen appearing on the 700 Club is agreeing with their agenda. Simple as that.
