I love you Feodor Sverdlov.

Well Feodor, I just watched it on the 700 Club website, and Kristin did NOT say that you have to keep an open mind about other people. She said that, when talkin to people, you have to keep an open mind about other faiths. This of course is a big difference - dear Kristin wasn't about to go on the 700 Club and talk about the gays!!

Also on this issue was a "news" report about how the Republicans need to stop the Dems from protesting judicial nominations (by killing the filabuster of course!) and an interview with Ken Mehlman, so some say is a big CLOSET case but also happens to run the Republican Party. I imagine Kristin gets along with Ken just fine. A "religious" show - please! (Now I don't know HOW I'll sleep tonight after watching).

Okay, whatever; but I never seen so much hate and non-acceptance from a group of people who do so much complaining about hate and non-acceptance.

awwww... Feodor. You haven't read this thread then. As i've repeated to the point of exhaustion, there's no hate here baby. There's anger. No hate.

Well, perhaps I haven't read closely enough. It just seems like a lot of hatred to me. Not just this thread, but lots of threads. Oh well, it's a free country.

Like Pseudolus, I actually watched the interview, though I was not able to hear her sing because it was a webcast and copyright laws prevented it from being played on-line. No matter, I bought three copies of the CD at midnight and am listening to one of them now. (Don't worry; the other two are for friends who are not quite geeky enough to go to Tower Records after hours in order to buy their own copy!)

I would imagine Kristin's comments about being open-minded about other faiths were shocking to some people watching the show and quite possibly to Pat himself, if he was watching. (She was interviewed by Terry Meeuwsen.) The idea that one should pay attention to other faiths would be considered liberal and unacceptable by most evangelical Christians. No, she did not talk about lesbians and gays, but I believe she presented herself as an open-minded person who does not necessarily conform to the "norms" of conservative Christians. Her life is exemplary and shows that she is both a person of deep, personal faith and a person who sees the divinity in us all.

Perhaps she made a mistake appearing on the 700 Club. Fortunately for her, that is not for us to decide. Personally, I don't think that it was a mistake. If I did, the God that I follow would call me to forgive her. I hope we call all do that more.

Hi, Folks!

I'm a country western singer who supports the NAACP. But, I really need to sell my new album! Would it be ok if I promoted it on David Duke's (former KKK leader) new talk show--"Whites Rule"? I promise I don't agree with his views, but it would just be so durn cool if I could sell a few more albums given that that's his audience and all. Whatcha think?

"I hate people who hate" --- Madonna

I use the quote above because I am one of those people who is often called hypocritical for hating those who hate. Well. I don't give 3 ****s if you think that. I will continue to HATE people who hate based on race, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, etc. And those that PREACH this kind of hate will get the bulk of my hate. You hate this attitude? Oh. Well. I stand proudly by it.

CLEARLY, people are NOT READING the posts correctly--NO ONE criticized Christians on this thread. NO ONE said that you can't be Christian and gay friendly. NO ONE said that KC hates gays. They are merely offended by a bad choice in venue for promoting her album--a show that PREACHES HATE.

And I don't care what religion you are or aren't, no, you may not hide your bigotry behind your religion. I don't have to respect any hate against gays--EVER. And, if that makes me a horrible no good person---oh the **** well.

And, for the record--I think KC is very talented.

And, for the record--I applaud Barbra and all celebrities who led the boycott against Colorado over Amendment 2. I only ask--where the **** are they now??

I have to agree. I like Kristin, I think she's very talented. But sometimes it's better not to market something in the arena she did. She's going to be doing those Women of Faith conferences where 30,000 people will attend each (and she's doing about 7) that's more than enough Christian outreach.
I think this is just an example of her selling herself in any way or means necessary to promote herself.
Of course, she wants to bridge the distances, but do that at your massive concerts honey.
I would have had a hell of a lot more respect for her if she had turned around and said how excited she was to be playing a lesbian in an upcoming film on the 700 Club. Shocking, but I would have been able to forgive her for doing the show.
I don't think she needs to boycotted but I think this is her saying to people "I'm a bigger star than just Broadway" and obviously it's kind of a nose up to her current fan base. She's expanding her celebrity. Hopefully one of her handlers will remind her that the same people you see on the way up are the same as those on the way down.
If she continues to make such reckless "how many people will it get me out in front of" decisions, eventually she will lose respect and fans.
I hope her album does well for her, I just hope she remembers some of those folks will never buy a broadway ticket or see Running with Scissors or probably even watch West Wing. Most of them probably wouldn't approve of her current dating choice in a married man either (even though he is going through divorce)

I was busy sticking pins in my Kristin voodoo doll this morning.
By the way, did you know that if you play 'Popular' backwards it says 'gays are sinners'*?

*Middie is still very angry, but trying to lighten his mood a bit.

Why question the "real source" of his anger, Billy? That sounds like you are belittling it. I think Midtown has explained it eloquently in previous posts.

I weep for the future of our nation. Is English no longer a subject in school? I mean...the lack of comprehension is absolutely astonishing.

Honestly...get tutors, folks. It's truly disturbing.

I think it has more to do with people assuming what this thread is about and jumping the gun with their replies rather than actually reading what people have said.

Listened to the CD this morning at Tower, it was okay, very studio.
Noticed on the liner notes, she doesn't thank her fans. Not buying the CD. How do you not thank your fans? Even Madonna does. But in all fairness, she thanks her agent, manager and PR person, all the people who have gotten her to where she is, hope they buy the album.

Pal, I am sorry if I missed it. I in no way intend to belittle anyone. I am honestly curious.

And for those who missed it, on the Early Show Kristin said that she is no longer Southern Baptist. She now attends a church that "accepts everyone."

Spooky, are you not buying the album because she didn't thank her fans?!?

Fickle bunch. One TV appearance while promoting, and an oversight in the liner notes, and this group is getting the pitchforks and torches.

No! I'm not the not buying the album because of the liner notes, that's just a footnote. The album itself wasn't my taste at all. I'll just download Taylor off itunes, if it's available.

"Taylor" is available on iTunes, as is an additional song not on the album.
