Wow, I gotta say that I don't love the Johnny Cash-esque baritone at the beginning at each verse, Link.
I think your voice is much stronger when you are in the Tenor2 range. I understand they've given you some criticism about it being a bit too pop in the past, but I think that's where your strength is. I'd stick with it and either win or lose with your strengths.
I assume you are also a little iffy about country which is understandable. I think next week is a much better category for options with your voice.
For the record, I can definitely hear the Link Larkin in there though.
Oh thank GOD! Thanks for your kind words, Patronus. I was so nervous about this week's theme that I didn't even listen to my song after I recorded it. I just hit send before I could kick myself even more.
I'm not a fan of the baritone either, but since this is a strategic vote as much as a quality vote, I've got to give you props for taking our criticism to heart and trying something different, and my score will reflect that. Plus I think you'll be in your element next week.
Tiff: Thanks...I think...hah.
Patronus: Well to be fair, Country is not an alien style to me. While it is not my main style of music, it was constantly around me. I am from the same town as Jann Arden and Paul Brandt. The accent wasn't even a mocking on...it was sadly authentic. (I used to be a little bit of a cowboy...owned a horse and everything)

I couldn't possibly disagree more with you guys...I absolutely LOVE your lower range, Akiva.
Thanks Jaily,
Although I don't know how unbiased you are, since I keep having this feeling while you are listening to my song you are imagining reinacting Brokeback Mountain with me.
:P

Jaily's saying that because he wants to get all brokeback on Akiva. (You know Calgary - Akiva's hometown - is where it was filmed, right Jail?)
ETA: God, Akiva! Way to steal my comment!
Well, I mean, if you bitches are gonna be like THAT! *packs up and goes home in a snarky huff* Jeez...just TRY to be sincerely complimentary around here!
Hah...Tiff, two great (or retarded) minds think alike.
Akiva
p.s. Sincerely thanks Jaily.

See, this is why I suck at this. I am so worried about hurting people's feelings or coming across as a jerk.
I don't think it sounded mocking, I think my issue was more that it almost sounded like two completely different people singing. If it was all baritone, cool. If it was all tenor, cool. I just wasn't crazy about getting from point A to point B if that makes any sense.
You sounded quite good, I just don't think country is your #1 type of music.
But hell, I applaud you all for having the guts to do it at all. You notice I am sitting here typing comments rather than sending in the songs.
Stop apologizing, Patty. Or should I call you a Patsy?
----Ooooooh.-----
thank goodness!
JUST KIDDING! NO IDEA HOW YOU SING! lol
No, no Patronus. Don't apologize for your thoughts (good or bad), they were insightful and respectfully shared. They are always much appreciated.

WesternSky2:
I think I really like your voice. However, I didn't like this song for your voice. I wish I had been playing a little earlier in the competition so I could hear some other stuff.
This song I think was just a tad too high. The 2nd "This Kiss!" started out strained but on pitch, but by the last set of them at the end it was starting to get a little flat.
That being said, I really like your voice a lot during the more comfortable portions of thing and I really look forward to hearing you do something else in a genre that isn't country.

It's not jelly. It's a FILM.
Spiders song so SO MUCH F**KING FUN! I miss two-stepping to it at the Stampede. *Goes to download the original too*

Ha! I heard that her milkshake brings all the boys to the yard and there like, "Um, no thanks. We're on weight watchers."
God, you really ARE a country boy!!
Patty, admit it. You wanna see my humps. My humps. And my lovely lady lumps.
Check it out.
