Yeah! There's a reason Margo has so much street cred--she's been on the street for YEARS! (Doing my best Bette)

Robbie, hold my baby and my jewelry ....... I gotta go "talk" to somebody..........
I know...and she caught me taking bows in her dress too--though it wasn't really on--I was just holding it against my frame.
"But you implied that all opinions are on an equal footing. And that is not true."
It's not a true or false statement.
"Equal footing" is a comment on relevancy. Relevancy is an opinion. Therefore it can't be judged as right or wrong, true or false, accurate or inaccurate.
You decide if you give an opinion merit or not based on your own set of values and facts related to that opinion.
Margo's credentials can't be disputed. They are FACT. How and if they are valued or revered is a matter of opinion, not fact.
Unless the bitch be lyin' about them.

Opinions are a wonderful things are they not best12bars? Some people would say "Showgirls" was better than "All About Eve". You gotta love the human mind =)

I've only seen The Departed and I'm still depressed that Dreamgirls isn't nominated. Needless to say, I won't be getting over this for a while.

The producers, writers actors and everyone else involved with "Dreamgirls" should be very proud of themselves. The movie is good and it proved once again that movie musicals can get people in the seats! That is a pretty big accomplishment as far as I'm concerned. Plus they got more nominations than any other film and might possibly walk away with two of the top 7 awards!
I loved THE QUEEN.
It's my pick to win.
Well, here is my opinion.
BABEL: I really disliked this film. After I saw it, I just felt empty and completely unaffected. It just seemed so preachy, but it tried to be demure about it. I was shocked when it began creating so much Oscar buzz.
LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA: I did enjoy this film, and I understand its nomnation. However, it's not the best of the year.
THE QUEEN: I loved this film. With two outstanding performances (from Mirren and Sheen), fanatastic directing, a wonderful score, a brilliant script, and perfect pacing, this film, for me, really delivered. I would say the best of the year.
THE DEPARTED: This was a very enjoyable, well crafted film. I enjoyed it very much, but it wasn't, to me, anything completely special. There was some great acting, but nothing completely outstanding.
LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE: When I saw this at theatres, I said to myself "I hope this gets a Best Picture nod, but it probably won't. I also hope Breslin and Dano get nominations." Well, to my surprise, the film did get its nomination. However, I feel Dano and Carrell were robbed of their nominations. Larkin's role just wasn't big enough to make a huge impression. This film was directed with skill, had a witty script, and is full of numerous outstanding performances. To me, the third best picture of the year.
So, what do I think is the 2nd best picture? Well, DREAMGIRLS.
I am going to have to say that this Oscar year will go down in history as the year DREAMGIRLS was shut out of an Oscar nod.
However, that's just one of my quibbles.
I would love to see the THE QUEEN take home the Oscar. If not, I would like to see LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE.
I wouldn't say these pictures are weak. Weaker than other years, but not weak. To me, DREAMGIRLS should have replaced BABEL, but LETTERS FROM IWO JIMA was the actual surprise.
We shall see!
"I am going to have to say that this Oscar year will go down in history as the year DREAMGIRLS was shut out of an Oscar nod."
Well, yes...because....well....it's the only year that a film called DREAMGIRLS will have been made.
I will be happy with a win from any of the 5 best picture nominees, with the exception of THE DEPARTED. It shouldn't be nominated.
Munkustrap- were you trying to be smart? Because what I said made perfect sense.
