Was just curious if any of the horror fans on the board have gone to this? I'm pretty sure I would yell "Safety!" 10 minutes in...but part of me really wants to try it. None of my friends would go though and I don't think I would do it by myself...even though you have to walk through alone.
Here are the rules:
Rules
YOU MUST WALK THROUGH ALONE.
You must be over 18.
Stay on the marked path at all times.
You will be prompted to do certain actions. Please do exactly as you’re told. This is for your safety.
There is absolutely no speaking allowed inside. You can, however, scream as loud as you’d like.
Do not ever touch the actors.
Do not ever touch the walls.
You must wear a protective mask and carry a flashlight at all times. (We will provide both of these items for you. Please do not bring your own.)
If you have an emergency while walking through the house and need to be escorted out, please yell the word “SAFETY” as loud as you can. Stay where you are, remain calm, and someone will come to get you and bring you out. Once you call “SAFETY”, there are no refunds and there are no options but to leave.
Please be aware, you will encounter:
FOG – STROBE LIGHTS – COMPLETE DARKNESS
CRAWLING – STAIRS – LOUD NOISES – WATER
PHYSICAL CONTACT – SEXUAL and VIOLENT SITUATIONS
All patrons are required to read the rules and sign the waiver before entering. This is not optional. If there are any rules that you do not follow, you will be asked to leave and there are no refunds.
Unfortunately, this years haunted house is NOT handicap accessible.
Blackout Haunted House reserves the right to deny admission to any person for any reason at any time.
The promo video in the link looks pretty terrifying too.

PHYSICAL CONTACT – SEXUAL and VIOLENT SITUATIONS
Really?

Posted: 10/24/11 at 10:53amYeah I've just read some more about it online and it's definitely not for me. Looks like they take their inspiration from the "torture porn" brand of horror. I'll stick with Blood Manor.

A blackout section in a haunted house can be a lot of fun. A whole haunt like that? I'm not sold.
I wonder if they do the gag where the flashlights can be manipulated by an outside controller. Meaning, you enter a certain part of the haunt and your light goes out. No matter what you do, the flashlight will not turn back on until you get to the next section of the haunt.

I went to this group's Haunted House two years ago... It was absolutly terrifying. They use a lot of pyschological mind f*cking on you. Just the wait for your turn to enter is creepy as all hell!
A friend went this year and said they played on many new fears and adversions.

Posted: 10/24/11 at 12:03pmI'm the friend SNAFU referred to as going. It is very intense. It does play on multiple fears. It is absolutely not the typical Halloween Haunted House with Freddy Kruger or the Texas Chainsaw guy running after you. In this one your senses are limited or taken away all together. At times you cannot see, cannot hear or on the opposite end you have to touch and are touched. They try to throw you off and put you into uncomfortable situations and that is different for everyone. Coworker in my office called "safety" because she was not going to crawl through a low tunnel but she made it through another very intense area before this that I was certain she would not make it through. If you want to push your limits then this is for you. If you have to remain in control and aren't willing to try new things...this isn't for you. For Black Out - it is about the fear and not the typical Halloween fright.

Posted: 10/24/11 at 12:07pmI want to do this but I need to know if there's any use of snakes (real or fake or even suggested) in there. If there is, it's something I can't do.

Posted: 10/25/11 at 4:00pmViolence and sexual situations. So they're telling me I'm going in there, alone, in the dark, and I'm gonna be mock-raped? How bout no.
Blackout Haunted House NYC #13
Posted: 10/25/11 at 4:19pmI don't think it is anything like a mock rape.

Posted: 10/25/11 at 5:35pmI read some detailed reviews of their past haunted houses. I don't think things like someone shoving their fingers in my mouth or mock water torture would scare me...just make me really, really mad.

Posted: 10/25/11 at 7:07pmThe part that would terrify me is having a plastic bag put over my head. I'd get really claustrophobic and afraid I couldn't breathe.
