I've always been attracted to gay geeks and I really never understood why.
Maybe I should watch this and it will all go away.

Posted: 1/19/14 at 9:36pmMy nephew *loves* the show, and told me last week that people in school told him it was only for girls. But I don't think I would be comfortable showing him this...

Posted: 1/19/14 at 9:48pmI personally don't really get the show, but I think it takes quite a bit of balls for fans of other niche entertainment to look down on those for liking something you wouldn't expect them to. Bronies are just fans, that's all they are. They have their extreme fans, but what fandom doesn't? Just maybe take yourselves a step above the high school hallways?

One of my many departing bosses (I go through them like Murphy Brown went through secretaries) gave me one of the My Little Ponies she had on her desk for years as a parting gift. I thought it was kind of dumb but then I looked her up and found out her name is Minty and she's kind of rare and if she were in her original packaging kind of valuable. Then I looked into the various TV series and really, they seem to be particularly acid-inspired. I mean, there's one whole series where the ponies are human girls.
Anyway, I have learned a lot from My Little Pony, most importantly that friendship is, indeed, magic. And you stick by your friends and you help them out when they need it. Minty is always with me when I travel, even though her mane is falling out. Also, there was an episode with a Sondheim song parody in it.

It seems like you and Minty have been through a lot together. It's nice to have someone in your life that sticks by you always even when their mane falls out. I'm happy you know what friendship is, too. It's important to learn that.

I shouldn't be laughing but I'm about to piss myself.
Just don't let a Bronie see that. They'll kick your ass.

It's a shame this documentary isn't better than it is. It's tepid. It doesn't make fun of the Bronies or have anything substantial to say about MLP culture, either.
As for the show, it's cute. It was created by Lauren Faust, who is the co-creator of The Powerpuff Girls, Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends, and Wander Over Yonder. She and her husband Craig McCracken have created some of the best animated television in recent memory.
If nothing else, I can't hate on the bronies because they created Doctor Whooves, perhaps the greatest parody of Doctor Who regeneration ever. The Doctor regenerates as a pony and has to help save the missing princess. It was an audio play turned into a funny series of animated shorts. http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/592113
