Jenner blames the paparazzi.
Jenner family sources tell TMZ Bruce was being chased by as many as 5 paparazzi at the time of the crash. Bruce told cops he wasn't drinking and passed a field sobriety test.

It's a weird world we live in when someone dies, the person who caused the accident blames photographers and the photographers still post photos of the accident as it happened all over the net. "The accident happened because he was being chased by those bastards from TMZ, TMZ reports."

Ok, so 2 black SUVs were involved. I was confused, because the other pictures I saw showed a black Hummer SUV that was much more damaged. This is Bruce Jenner's Cadillac SUV. I think the Cadillac hit the car into the Hummer.

Yes. But seems white car (Lexus) actually hit Prius first.
"The four-vehicle crash began about 12:15 p.m. in Malibu when a Toyota Prius slowed or stopped in traffic and was struck from behind by a white Lexus sedan, LA County Sheriff's Sgt. Philip Brooks said, noting that traffic on the northbound side was not moving very quickly.
Jenner, driving a Cadillac SUV pulling a dune buggy, then rear-ended the Lexus, sandwiching the Lexus between his SUV and the Prius, Brooks said. The Lexus then spun or veered into the quickly-moving southbound lane of PCH, where it was struck head-on by a Hummer, he said."

I'm not defending the paparazzi and I'll be more than happy to boycott TMZ, but photogs in pursuit or not, the target still makes a decision to try to recklessly outrace his pursuers.
I don't see how Jenner can pass the legal blame onto the paps.

Every report I've read has him as the third car in a multi-car pileup. Prius stopped short, Lexus rear-ended Prius, Escalade (Bruce ) rear-ended Lexus, Lexus spun into next lane and was hit by Hummer. Lexus driver killed.
Getting a search warrant for all drivers phones is standard procedure in accidents in Cali from what I've read.
I'm not sure why some folks in this thread are making Bruce the only focus of wrong doing.

That's not the account I read and regardless, this interpretation would defy the laws of physics. Assuming all cars are in the same lane heading straight ahead, if you hit the car in front of you and then the car behind you comes up and hits you, as the middle car, you are almost locked in between the other two cars. It would be almost impossible for that chain of events to send you as the middle car careening laterally or even diagonally into oncoming traffic. The fact that you are basically pressed between the car in front and the car in back would make that virtually impossible. If anything, the car in front, the Prius, a much lighter car might careen after the second impact from Bruce's car if it was struck hard enough and had its wheels turned, but not the middle car. The only interpretation that makes sense is that the middle car was hit forcefully by Bruce's truck and then hit the Prius as it was careening.
Never underestimate the powerful ability of the Kardashian/Jenner publicity machine to color and spin the account you are reading which likely was gathered from a "source close to the investigation".
EDIT: Just revisiting the pictures at the top, that looks like exactly what happened. There does not appear to be any damage to the front of the white car at the time it is impacted by Bruce which would throw doubt on it already having hit the Prius and Bruce's wheels are turning and he hits the white car at an angle on its right side making it appear he was trying to change lanes at the time and causing the car to careen off to the left. Even the account by the Sheriff's deputy makes no sense. He admits the white car was sandwiched between the two after Bruce hit it. When you are sandwiched between two cars, all 3 cars come to a rest and you are stuck there. You don't then all of a sudden careen into on coming traffic.
